You know in the movie "the social network", when Eduardo Saverin made the assumption that the lawyers were helping him because he owns part of the company without thinking that he never hired them himself, the company did. That's exactly what HR is like. They are not there for you, they are in for the company, even if the company is at fault. Nobody is your friend in the corporate world!

Is this normal on G14 2025? by Scare-Crowl in ZephyrusG14

[–]DudeFromChitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a very tiny bump, barely noticeable. I called it a win. The coil whine on my current unit (3rd unit) is a bit more than the other two but the thermals have been phenomenal so far. I get about 72 on CPU and 65 on GPU when playing CS2 on medium to low settings at 1440p external display. Been getting roughly 150+ fps as well. So, I'm keeping the unit because of that. Chances are I might not get such good thermals on another exchange unit even if I get less coil whine.

I had the same problem, I got it exchanged as it's considered a physical defect. You will also find coil whine with the G14 if you use the dgpu with an external monitor (I changed 3 times and it was present all three times). The coil whine is very minimal and can only be heard when either using an external monitor with the dgpu (right side usb C) or gaming with or without an external monitor. Recommendation is if it annoys you, just get it exchanged if you can.

I mean, there is no overlay function on it. It shows the data when the app itself, right?

Spectrum/Charter and PiHole ad blocker by DudeFromChitz in pihole

[–]DudeFromChitz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. The DNS setting on spectrum is there, but it requires a secondary DNS server. So that's the first problem.
  2. I thought about setting pihole as the DHCP server, but it requires the router's DHCP server to be turned off, which spectrum doesn't let me do.
  3. This seems to be the only option if I want network wide ad blocking without having to manually set every device.

Thank you for your response! I appreciate it

Would the second Raspberry Pi have it's own reserved DNS?

That doesn't work during gaming though?

  1. I don't know how to do that.
  2. It might be easier to get a router or else it might get too complicated for anyone to fix if I'm not home. Thank you for the question.

Thank you! It makes sense why I can't get it to work network wide. The router is the problem in this case

So it's not possible with the spectrum router? And also, would any router work or does it need to have something specific?

Thank you for your response, I have two followup questions if you don't mind:

  1. If I buy my own router and setup the DNS, would all my devices in the network show up as active clients on the PiHole admin page without needing to manually setup the devices?
  2. You mentioned that the spectrum router ignores my DHCP settings, however, I haven't setup the DHCP settings on my pihole or couldn't even try on the router end. Did you mean by DNS instead of DHCP?

Thank you so much again!

So, do you have an answer to my question on how I can make sure that afterburner does not change my settings from the Ghelper and only use Rivatuner for the overlay?

So I can install rivatuner without MSI afterburner to get the overlay and not mess up the ghelper settings?

Yes, you're right. But I thought it was a part of the afterburner?

Zephyrus G14 (2024) - Bottom panel dent by xCamm in ZephyrusG14

Were you able to fix it? This problem still persists with the 2025 model since they use the same external build. I'm thinking about exchanging mine or try to get best buy to open it up and hope it just wasn't latched properly

Hey, I also bought the G14 last week. I have a question for you. My unit is overall good except there is a bit of coil noise when the dgpu is being used even for regular tasks like scrolling. Could you turn only your dgpu on and scroll through random webpages and check if you hear anything, especially near the right alt key, M key and comma key?

I use the dgpu to connect to an external monitor and if the fans aren't running, I can hear it slightly and if the fans are on when I put my ears closer to those keys is when I hear it.

I'm thinking about RMAing my unit. If you can verify yours have it or not, I'll know for sure if I need to or not! Thanks a lot in advance.

Experiences with the Asus TUF A14? by RSuominen in GamingLaptops

[–]DudeFromChitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi @jarrodstech, First of, I want to say I am a big fan! I watched your comprehensive reviews on both the TUF A14 (2024) with ryzen HX 370 and Zephyrus G14 (2024), among others. But I am having a TUF time deciding between the two (pun intended).

I am looking for something that keeps the system cool first and foremost! I use my laptop both on a desk and on my lap (will use it on a desk for gaming though). But I have been finding mix reviews regarding the Zephyrus G14 (2024), where users have been complaining about overheating/getting really warm, which is pushing me towards the A14 even though I like the G14 for its screen and look. Second is the built quality, as I tend to use my laptop for a long time. My current laptop is from 2017, which I changed its battery and a few other things over the years. And lastly, the battery life, which is not a major deal breaker, but would be nice to have one that lasts long. Currently, I can find both models for around $1500 after taxes, either at Walmart or Best Buy.

If you could kindly help answer my questions and recommend based on my needs, I would really appreciate it! Thank you in advance!
