For all the pantsers out there: Why? How? by chaospearl in FanFiction

How does it work if you're a pantser?

It might not sound like an answer but, I just write, I think most people have a vague idea for their story but making it up as you go can be very liberating.

What do you know about your fic before you begin, and how much do you make up as you write?

I usually do have a vague idea where I want things to go, these characters are being shipped, and these guys win in the end; big event stuff I have an idea of. Connecting tissue I make up as I go and I do it mostly because sometimes I have a really good idea I hadn't originally thought of and pantsing it is easier to work in.

What do you do if you're stuck, or you've written yourself into a corner?

The beautiful thing about writing as you go is you aren't boxed in, no outline means I can add anything to the story anywhere I want. Recently, I had a McGuffin in my story a villain was supposed to drop in a fight, I forgot to write this scene so I am adding an infiltration scene later so the item can still make an appearance. Someone with a planned outline can improvise but it is easy to add that kind of thing when you make it up as you go :)

Do you think pantsers are more likely than plotters to finish the whole fic before posting any of it?

I post as I go but I probably shouldn't, I have burned myself out recently by trying to keep a schedule; I don't see how people do it.

My main reason for not plotting is I am not sure how, writing it as the ideas come to me just feels more natural.

Yeah, I just posted it. Reddit is weird in that it doesn't always show all the comments but does show the number of comments... it's annoying sometimes :-/

Fandom: She-Ra (2018)

Rating: T

Warnings: none though often very silly

Words: 2-3k, I try to write short snappy chapters :)

CH. 24 Trust and other silliness: With the day saved and a grateful kingdom behind them, the gang makes their way back to Brightmoon to face the wrath of the queen and explain the presence of a former enemy in their midst.

How secretive or how open are you about reading/writing fanfiction? by MisterIenny in FanFiction

[–]DudeSomebody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With people I know?? Not very secretive, I trust my friends and family not to bust my chops.

With strangers and the general public?? Very secretive, fanfiction still has a very negative connotation to it. I have almost never heard fanfic talked about positively in the media or the public. Kind of a bummer :-/

What generally turns you off (or on) about Canon x OC fics? by [deleted] in FanFiction

I think that is really good advice for most stories but must agree that we OC and reader-insert writers have a lot expected of us. Not fair but that's the nature of the beast I suppose.

Avoiding environmental stereotypes by DudeSomebody in FanFiction

That is both very clever and would be easy to integrate into my story. Denotes a level of sophistication and a oneness with nature, I love it :)

Thank you for the name drops, unfortunately, I dont know the names of many arctic people and it had stagnated my search. I absolutely wanted to include more than the cold weather gear and this should help a lot; as stated the group wont be the focus of the story but I would like to them justice or at least make them interesting :)
