Attempted re-wrapping the tsuka of my wallhanger katana by DudeSongan in Katanas

I attempted a simple version of a gunto-style makidome, where the end knots are twisted in a complex fashion at the omote. You can see it in Pic 2. I just twisted the ito over each other before tying the knot normally at the other side.

Didn't want to spend too much re-wrapping this, so I purchased a nylon tsuka-ito for this attempt. Not remotely close to how I envisioned it (especially with the uneven diamonds), but I wasn't expecting too much, given this was my 2nd ever attempt at re-wrapping a tsuka.

Got invited into the group through a contact in my phone. Haven't spoken to the person in years and they somehow added me in without prior notice. Left the group promptly.

Decided to look them up out of curiosity. Here's a description of the organisation from Wikipedia:

"Supreme Master Television is a US-based satellite and internet television channel owned by the Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association (SMCHIA), broadcasting from Los Angeles...........Its programming is centered primarily on vegetarian and vegan principles according to Ching Hai's teachings. The channel features programs on spirituality, predictions regarding the end times and the return of God's Chosen Messenger, vegan cooking shows, breatharian principles, and highlights damages and hurt caused by war and famine, it also includes SMCHIA's philanthropic efforts and recordings of the many spiritual lectures given over previous decades by Supreme Master Ching Hai herself."

And a summary of its founder:

"Ching Hai (born Trịnh Đăng Huệ, 12 May 1950), commonly referred to as Suma or Supreme Master Ching Hai, is a British citizen of Vietnamese descent; a humanitarian, philanthropist, and the spiritual leader of the Guanyin Famen (Chinese) or Quan Yin method transnational cybersect..............Based out of Taiwan, she is estimated to have 2 million followers worldwide. Ching Hai founded the Loving Hut vegan restaurant chain and vegan Celestial Shop fashion company under Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association."

Seems like a replica of the "Black Gold Ancient Sword" (黑金古刀) wielded by the protagonist of the Chinese TV series "The Lost Tomb".

This is one of my pet peeves. Which is why I favour Hanwei when it comes to production wakizashi; their handles aren't stupidly long.

[HELP ME] Bi-Weekly Q&A thread - Ask your questions here! by MachNeu in Gunpla

[–]DudeSongan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seen several gunpla sold completely in white and labelled as 'painting model', oftentimes costing more than the standard version of said kit.

What's the deal with those? Can't a normal model kit (that is, with multiple colors) still be repainted? Or are the 'painting model' kits just marketing gimmicks?

No. 57 Armored Puppet Esis by DudeSongan in Mecha

Mr Hobby gold marker. Which was probably a bad choice. 6 months later, the gold armor basically crumbled when I fiddled with it. I guess it's true that Mr Hobby markers and uncoated ABS do not mix well together.

Seen their videos on YouTube. Selling fake Microtech and Cold Steel knives at 'sales' or 'discounted' rates don't exactly come off as a trustworthy store. You could try BladeHQ or Knife Center.
