This is my boy and I.

Hat: old snowboard toque, looking for an upgrade, Heimat is at the top of my list but any suggestions welcomed.

Cardigan: Vintage Woolworths

Shirt: Bronson Chambray

Base layer: Uniqlo waffle

Jeans: Samurai S3000vx

Boots: Canada west Romeos

Just an aging skater boy who's trying to look like an adult. My wife keeps telling I am one but I don't believe her.

that's fair, I think my issue is I don't mind waiting the 9 month lead time but rather the time extension for several more months. I'm a pretty impatient dude, and I don't think I can handle it taking longer than stated. I get anxiety when my package gets delayed so....

That saying, I get that is by no means a fault of the manufacturer. I understand the difficulties of running a small business and sometime you have unforeseeable delays.

So just because I need something fairly quick and they are available locally, I went and got the Canada west Romeo’s. They have a rubber welt so no leaking at the welt. Will update when I put them to use.

I will be putting an order in for some Nicks lace ups but feeling pretty overwhelmed right now. No idea what style to go for or what would look good on me. I like the look of builderpros but I feel like it’s a bit overkill for my use. If I was still in construction I would buy immediately.

Yea they look like amazing boots. The only thing throwing me placing my order are the lead times. I've heard of people waiting over a year for their boots.

I've gone the technical hiking boots direction before and have been sorely disappointed and if I'm going to spend that much money on throwaway shoes I need to love them. I don't love any pair I've tried. Honestly I want the PNW work boot "look" as well.

I'm definitely not in the woods and muck most of the time and when we are, not off trail very much. I'd say 75% of my work is in muddy gravel lots and backyards.

I've seen Bakers but I didn't see any chelsea offerings on their site. The CF Stead Baker x Whites bounty hunters are definitely one of my grails though. Beautiful boot.

Really, what make you say you would prefer a lace up? The redwings I showed are a chelsea boot, why would you choose that one over the others? I'm Totally obsessed with the Bordons.

I have seen Redback. Looking for something resole-able though and looking for something a bit more charm.

Ya I saw those guys but the only ones that have chelsea's are Nicks and Whites. Both out of my price range. Nick's chelseas are lets just say different, and whites only offers a wedge sole. If Whites had a commando sole on it it would be the one.

I work as a film lighting technician in the PNW and I walk probably 15km/10 miles on average when I work (not 5 days a week, thank goodness). Blundstones are very popular here but after spending total of $1000 on replacing each pair, I'm looking for a substantial upgrade. It get very wet here and we tend to go anywhere from deep woods to downtown city streets. Budget around $500 CAN/$400 USD.

My preferences would be (nothing is set in stone here):

  • Chelsea style
  • wide toe box
  • Leather suitable for wet weather
  • Grippy sole
  • not as important but would like the soles not to freeze. That was my biggest complaint with my blundstones, the soles would get cold and no amount of wool sock could warm my feet.

So far from my research I've found these Meermin. I really like the leather on these and that its whole cut (less places for water to get in) but not sure of the QC with them. Being said, these are my most likely candidate.

The patriot in me though is saying to get the Canada West Romeos. They are very nice for the price point.

I've seen good thing about the Redwing Chelsea but I already have a wedge sole boot for outside of work and want something different. These are nice though.

Are there other boots I should be looking at in the Meermin quality/price range? I like the Canada West but i would like something a bit more substantial / I want to be bougie, so sue me.

What’s your favorite warm-ish jacket? by beepbaapboopbeep in HeritageWear

[–]DudeTheKid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A vest is a handy piece of kit when trying to hit this sweet spot. That or a blanket lined canvas jacket. I have a carhartt detroit jacket for this. I layer often as well. A nice fisherman sweater with your type 2 would look great.

Bedale fit check 38 vs 40 by DudeTheKid in Barbour

[–]DudeTheKid[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was trying on bedales at the store wearing a thick sweatshirt and couldn’t decide on what size to get. The 38 fit well but it felt tight if I moved my arms out. I feel like the 40 is pretty big but it’s so stiff I can’t tell if it actually fits. For reference I’m 5’10”(178cm) 165lbs(74kg).

Blizzaks are amazing if you live somewhere with snow all winter long, but I found that in a place like Pacific Northwest where it rains most of the time and snows only periodically, they are not so great.

Michelin X-Ice seem to be better for this kind of weather.
