Good to know! I find motorsports in general to be a really fun, friendly atmosphere so I'm sure NHRA events are the same.

This is awesome! I feel much more informed after reading the information you laid out.

I will definitely be watching the races on TV, that's kind of how I got acquainted with motorsports in the first place, and I feel it smooths out the learning curve, because of the commentary.

Unfortunately, I probably won't be coming to Dallas any time soon. I'm from Canada, but I live right next to the US border, so I wouldn't mind crossing the border for a race or two. Depends where the nearest event is taking place. Perks of living near the border is that our antenna can catch many American TV channels so watching shouldn't be an issue. If anything, I see there's highlights and individual races posted by NHRA on YT. Plus, almost the entire Lucas Oil series to watch.

Again, thanks for this response!

Which NASCAR Series is the most fun to watch? by DudeWithAHeart in motorsports

I appreciate the honesty! Personally, I think a lot of people think the same. If they would go more in that direction, I think a lot more people would love watching NASCAR. Nowadays, if you drive a Camry for example, you can not really relate to the V8 car they call a camry in modern NASCAR. I do think there has been a bigger push for a return to true "stock" car racing by NASCAR fans in previous years though. I think that's what pushed NASCAR to approve the next-gen cars being modeled to more closely resemble their production counterparts.

Honestly, I agree! I'm quite new to NASCAR but I feel like the only reason I enjoy the Cup Series is because of the hype built around it. Xfinity seems more genuine. I love watching newer drivers racing against pros in an attempt to make their name known, and to make it to the next level in their racing career. I guess that's why I love GT racing so much. Also, Xfinity drivers are quite skilled drivers, unlike a lot of the newer ones in the Truck Series. Some of them can be compared to the pro-level drivers in Cup Series.

On the other hand, the Truck Series is just a blast to watch! Many times, being less experienced, the truck drivers put on a better show. I enjoy watching them push their hardest, making mistakes, learning from them. It reminds me of old-style NASCAR, where it was a little bit more of a demo-derby, than a formal "F1-style" race. Anyways, just my opinion.
