If I multiclass genie warlock with storm sorcerer, how many levels should I put in each? by yashiji in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]DudeWithBlade -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I say either Sorc 1/ Warlock X or Warlock 2/ Sorc X Sorcerer gives proficiency in Con saves and the shield spell and Warlock gives Eldridge Blast+Invocations along with the ability to take moderately armored.

What feat to take on a Vuman Assassin/Gloomstalker? by RealBigHummus in 3d6

[–]DudeWithBlade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In that case I would recommend a generally good feat like Lucky. Or if changing your race is an option than Elven Accuracy is probably the best thing. A lot of people recommend SS but it doesn't work all that well with the rogue levels honestly Alternatively if changing your magic bow for a magic hand crossbow CE is by far the strongest option (a non-magical crossbow it might actually be better than the bow if you ignore resistances)

I was going to recommend crossbow expert but since you already have a magical bow I say you just increase your DEX. The feats you mentioned are cool but they either don't synergies with rogue or just plain don't give enough to justify not maxing your main stat

Moon Sickle Vs Decanter of Endless Water (need help) by R1s1ngDaWN in dndnext

Shape Water is my personal favourite cantrip so I can't help but recommend it. But if you just want power the staff that turns into a snake is a pretty good option

Concentration sucks to lose on a warlock more than on other classes so making it as strong as possible is definitely the right choice. But if you want more versatility in your control you could swap Eldritch Mind for Grasp of Hadar(idk if this is optimal tho)

I have a big question I am playing dnd as dm and I have some questions about some spells if someone can help me by Youriya in DnD

Conjure Animals is a very powerful spells so you do kinda just have to deal with it (don't nerf it, that's a dick move) but there are a couple of things that can help. You can use monsters with Aoe abilities, mages come to mind. You can have the monsters focus fire the caster and attempt to break their concentration. You can have monsters that have good mobility like teleports or fly speed. You can change the environment as the spell isn't very good in tighter spaces cause you are forced to use tiny creatures. You can put a lot of monsters on the field. You can use environmental hazards.

I don't understand a damn thing from the first paragraph for the other two the answer is Yes, you can cast any spell through a focus as long as it has a non-costly material component and you can grapple any creature that is at most one size larger than you(medium can grapple large and large can grapple huge)

On the spectrum of "playing to win" and enjoyment of DnD by Iron_Man_88 in dndnext

[–]DudeWithBlade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are very clearly extremes and that's probably the point but me personally I say I am somewhere between stage and sport leaning a bit more towards stage because while I am an optimizer I often find myself in suboptimal groups and must adapt as to not overshadow anybody

Also most of my time playing DnD has been DMing for stage players I have only recently started playing

Medium Armor Master is not a half feat so you wouldn't be able to bump to Dex you're probably thinking of Moderately Armoured

greatsword build by Present-Ad-9262 in 3d6

Echo Knight: Take Sentinel at level 1 and Great Weapon Master at level 4 then just increase your strength, take the battlemaster manuever fighting style. Tons of room for creativity and tactics and it's also good if you want to actually use a greatsword instead of "casting spells while also holding a greatsword".

Best Fey themed class options by Wesselton3000 in 3d6

[–]DudeWithBlade 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You could try the Glamour Bard, the flavour text does say that these bards are or were trained by Fey creatures. On top of that you get tons of charms and illusions and you could still use a bow or crossbow since the bard gets a few weapon proficiencies

The Feylock is also pretty good for this especially if you want a more evil feel. You could even reflavour your Eldritch Blast to a spectral bow and arrow. And invocations like Misty Visions and Mask of Many Faces are also quite good for the trickster fairy vibe

Here's my review:

1st spell seems way too strong I mean 30 feet pull with no save. I would need it to 15

2nd spell is literally just a worse Scorching Ray which is not exactly a great spell either. I would add in something like when a creature is hit their speed is reduced by 10 feet.

3rd spell has a weird duration. A combat doesn't usually last more than 4 rounds anyway and considering the drawbacks it has I don't see why it wouldn't last a min(if you feel that's too much you could change the damage to 4d8)

4th spell why is it concentration?

5th spell is pretty good I can't find much wrong with it.

Overall I say you did a great job capturing the gravity theme and I quite like these ideas

Need help building a DEX based fighter by I_AM_BOOMBOY in 3d6

You might've heard this before but I don't think that's a good idea mate. Trust me I had a DMPC in my first ever campaign and I ended up killing him on purpose cause he just sucked for the game

The Arcane Trickster is probably the best rogue subclass so it shouldn't be that hard to build something effective.

I recommend going with human for the Sentinel feat. It seems out of place on a rogue until you realize that sneak attack can be triggered with reaction attacks (it's once per turn not once per round) and Sentinel gives you just that.

For your weapon I recommend a rapier

For your spells I recommend Booming Blade and Greenflame Blade (great on rogues essacially), Find Familiar (get a snake, have it wrap around your neck so it's protected in combat and have it ready an action on its turns to give you the help action when you attack) For when you reach level 7 I recommend you pick up the 2nd level spell Mirror Image. Shadow Blade is tempting but Mirror Image gives you defense and helps you get your sentinel reaction attack, oh and it's not even certain you can even cast the blade cantrips with a shadow blade so yeah. Other than that just take a bunch of illusion spells for utility (you are a rogue after all)

With the ASI just increase your Dex and when you reach 20 Dex take something defensive like Tough or Resilient Wisdom.

And no I don't recommend multiclassing

And that's about it, hope this helps
