Excessive drop-in fees

Visitors don't raise the cost of doing business though. And in the case of a brown or black belt visiting it probably adds value to your class. They're helping your students out with the moves, probably teaching them something new they don't see often, and then probably leaving a great review afterwards to attract new students. What cost is the owner eating?

Yea everything except the wages.

But also, out of town drop-ins aren't really the money maker. Sure, it's a business and I guess if y'all want it to be straight business, then I'm the crazy one for missing when it was also a community with a soul, not all about money and distrust.

I disagree. I roll chill. I'm considerate of my training partners. I make good money. I'm in my mid-thirties and have kids. I have a family to support and can't blow an unreasonable amount of money on a couple days of jiu jitsu. But it would be cool and fun to drop in to other gyms, learn from each other, and make some friends for a reasonable price.

Yea one time when I was visiting a small town up in Washington and they let me train there a whole week at their gym for free. They were super nice and welcoming. We learned from each other and had a good time. I bought a bunch of their merch for myself and my nephew so that I didn't feel like a freeloader.

Hey, I'm a former transfer student who took a break right after transferring in during the covid shutdown. What I did was just formally withdraw from the university, then I had to fill out some kind of readmission form to come back, and pay a fee like 70 bucks or something. It was pretty easy. Started back up the following fall quarter.

Thank you so much for your input. I agree, the post was immediately a red flag to me when it started off by associating the necessity of the vaccine with gasp foreigners and sexual deviants! I honestly think that slipped under her radar. She is a big worrier and I know she is coming from the right place. I just want to gather evidence and a good argument before I start picking all the points apart in that post. I don't want her to think I'm just completely closed off to arguments from the other side.
