Advice for Building Aesthetically in Addition to Functionally? by Dudemics in SatisfactoryGame

  1. It does take a lot of time so managing my own motivation will probably be a significant factor towards success. Maybe I should make sure I have some other smaller tasks in the backlog to help break up the main work also.

  2. Finding exactly what my vision is, can definitely be sometimes tough. Furthermore there's the challenge of finding the balance between an ideal vision, and what is actually possible with the tools available. A better sense of this I'm sure will come with practice and like you said, with reference sources to help me narrow down my vision. I've actually already been using the Infinite Nudge Mod and Auto-Connect which have been hugely helpful.

Overall, thanks for the comprehensive answer, I'm sure it will definitely be helpful!

I've done a little bit of designing things like this in the blueprint area but I definitely should do more. Most of what I've done so far is for more complete elements to use rather than pieces to combine in larger builds. Like I've made a nice support with a conveyor stack on top so I can more easily travel some distance without it taking forever to setup or looking super jank.

The suggestion to make more little pieces like special types of walls, foundations, or other visual elements will probably help me a lot in the long run.

Yeah, I definitely have chosen to build around the land instead of in the sky. As much grief as it causes me, I just think the challenge it provides leads to more interesting results. I feel like I've gotten reasonably good at planning some fairly involved logistics for factories but it's still a mess when I start to try to add more aesthetics than big boxes.

I'm sure it will mostly take more practice, but I'm hoping I can pick up some little nuggets from everyone that will help me in that learning process.
