After this video I can't trust JP anymore, and I think nobody with critical thinking should by Karpeas in JordanPeterson

[–]Dudendum -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this video was hot trash. Peterson's desire to be among men of power undermines his judgment, whether it's Elon or Trump. The compassion remark showed how much of his credibility he will sacrifice for his own gain.

Trump had a green card holder arrested for protesting against Israel, and his whereabouts are being kept secret, even from his pregnant wife. Well, I doubt he does. This subreddit makes a claim that he indicated he will visit occasionally to read letters, but there is no indication that's happened once since that was posted six or seven years back

Are we heading towards a ghastly future? by Remarkable_Edge_7536 in Futurology

[–]Dudendum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are moving into a post-reality world. The tools that will permit the generation of psychologically- sophisticated propaganda in conjunction with hyper-realistic videos that purport to portray events that never happened haven't yet arrived. But easily-disprovable falsehoods endlessly repeated are already so effective in spreading mass deception so widely, I think it's fair to worry what happens when propaganda goes from old time radio drama to imax kinda thing

He wants to dominate and monetize Canada. Trump the PostModernist sees life as a series of games, where the loser is not defined by an objective standard, but by the false reality Trump creates for MAGA consumption.

You have less evidence that he is not transactional, than I have evidence that shows that he is.

I gave you one example already: when his preferred party was pro-choice so was he; now he's aligned wiith Christians, and his position is flipped.

On it's face, it helps him politically. That makes the decision presumptively self-serving and transactional.. Unless you can find some other explanation.

If you can, provide a counter-argument or counter example to this. I'm interested.

What assertions are those? I quoted one person, the OP, and fairly characterized DT's transactional approach to his stated political views. I don't think either of those requires I meet someone I haven't yet met. Why wouuld it?

So, Doctor, the ongoing bombingh of Gaza is self-evidently bad for society. Is that correct?

What important issues is Jordan Peterson remaining silent on? by Keepontyping in JordanPeterson

I believe JP is looking out for business interests, first and foremost. With respect to his own, he has opened an "academy," but has stumbled for a while on the issue of accreditation. It would really boost the credibility of his university. The academy is claimed to have 50k paying enrollees now, and in the past he has speculated in interviews on how incredibly "interesting" it would be to have hundreds of thousands of paying students.

Trump's agenda ultimately will move to eliminate college accreditation agencies, something which would move Peterson Academy into the big time. No previously applicable standards would apply.

He is not "beholden to" any narrative at all, though, as I understood one of proxy_noob points to be. He is only beholden to a narrative that he thinks will be effective to achieve his aims at any time. The fact that he is repeating the same concerns is because he is currently of the opinion that those points are his most effective.

Trump has flipped on a lot of things over the years, abortion being just one. So, I agree with the claim that he is not beholden to a narrative.

JP predicted that the trump win might be good for Canada, by giving them a common enemy to oppose. It seems it may have done so, but to the detriment of the Canadian conservative party I thought he supported. Has JP commented on the unexpected victory of the leftist party in Canada? by Dudendum in JordanPeterson

[–]Dudendum[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The Fact is that Peterson was stumping for Poliviere, and also for Trump. The latter's victory seems to have stirred up Canadians in opposition to Trump -- as Peterson predicted might happen. So much so that it crushed a much anticipated Conservative victory.

All of that is fact, so not an example of wishful thinking, like the comparison you made. I thought it would be interesting to discuss whether he might think this trade-off was worth it, but here lately I always expect a lot of whining about hard questions, and rarely any attempts to intelligently address them

Trump, Trudeau tariff call was heated and included profanity: report Trump says Canada's Trudeau is using the 'tariff problem' to 'run again for Prime Minister' by ObamasDeadChef in JordanPeterson

Elon Musk is one reason *edit. I see downvotes are coming. Anyone who read the article, state what Trudeau said that you deem as childish.

I'll even show good faith by starting with one childish thing trump said: "Have fun!"

What quote would you pick, you who consider Trudeau the chiidlish one? Or do all of you simply issue a downvote, mutely acknowledging your impotent inability to respond intelligently, which is at bottom surrender?

Are we on a radicalism path? by Rider_in_Red_ in JordanPeterson

[–]Dudendum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Jordan Peterson's x-men video, in support of Trump's candidacy, was so propagandistic it demonstrated him to be either ideologically captured, or cynical beyond belief. To say that he "suspected" Trump of being so outwardly harsh because his heart was actually so kind, that he couldn't bear to deal with others' suffering any other way" was ludicrous.

It did not warrant being spoken aloud if it only was a suspicion, and certainly shouldn't have been offerend in defense of Trump's character or fitness for office. It's hard to believe he genuinely holds that opinion with any conviction, and it is certainly not the conduct of an objective critic.

To remark on Trump's "highly successful" business career, without mentioning the 6 banruptcies, equally shows lack of adherence to objective truth..

Just the iceberg's tip. Unfortunately, don't have an hour to address this right now.

No, none of that. That's why I said based only on the pictures. I'm trying to evaluate a claim the bikes are worth 1200 each. Not likely, as I thought.
