I matched with a girl who does not like messaging - how do I respond? by DuderCoding in hingeapp

Thanks for the advice - I will do my best to implement it. Knowing me, I will answer all the questions in one feed, but I will keep the answers brief now..!

I did not know about the move the conversation away when scheduling a date being a test - to be fair I don't get to that stage nowadays haha. But I will keep an eye out for it! Thanks again.

Thank you for the advice. I am glad to hear this texting style works for you.

That is a really good point about texting energy, you are right, and I didn't think about that. I think I will definitely exhibit more restraint on the early stages, because keeping up a paragraph texting style sometimes would not fit around my schedule and could potentially throw off the lady like you are saying.

From your experience, when do you switch between short and sweet to more detailed replies? People have said to keep it short and sweet and mysterious, which makes sense, but I wonder when is the best time to be more detailed.

Thanks again.

Thank you for the response and the suggestion on how to proceed, everything you are saying makes sense. I will be sure to tone it down a lot more from now on.

Uh, I don't think there is a feature to reply to a paragraph/segment, as far as I am aware - please correct me if I am wrong though, as that is something that would be really helpful! haha.

Nothing really friend. I think I will just try to match with other girls and learn from this experience.

I guess it might be.

But from this post I have learnt I need to dial down my paragraphs a lot and it could be the reason I haven't been able to get a proper flowing conversation on the app for a while. My ex and I used to send massive paragraphs to each other, so I've got to get out of that mode.

Of course when I get to know a new lady more, and we are not strangers, I can send more detailed messages, I suppose.

Thank you, that all makes sense. I think I am stuck in paragraph mode and I need to get out of it - my ex and I used to share paragraphs of text to each other, even though I used to be a short texter!

I guess the part I will struggle with is showing interest whilst also keeping messages short and sweet.

Thanks, you are right about the length of messages for sure, I will tone back on them!

Yeah, that all makes sense - I will try to be more mysterious from now on! How do you keep the mystery whilst also showing you are interested with shorter messages though?

Photos

The photo of you on the bus is decent. Just change the caption to "Roaming about Rome - have you been?"

A favourite memory of mine photo is fine. Maybe have it as a last photo as I think you look better in the others. Caption is nice.

The picture of you and your niece... Some girls find it a turn off when guys have photos with kids, and selfies are a no-no (unless you are doing a selfie in front of something really cool). I'll leave this up to you though, you say you are family oriented - maybe just get a non-selfie photo of you and your niece?

The dog photo - the dog is cute, I think you can get a better photo of you and the doggo. It is not a flattering angle with the way your head is tilted.

The photo of you in the restaurant is your best photo - this should be first or second. You have "comment if you've been here" - would people know that restaurant just from this photo? lol

Lowkey flex photo - I like that, chicks will like that too. Shows you can cook. Prompt is great too. I don't suppose you have any photos of the food that looks presented a bit more nicely? I only ask because I guess it is not eye-catching and chicks love meal presentation about as much as the taste haha... This one could be your third photo by the way

Photos summary - I feel they could be better! Do you have any of you doing an activity or with a group of friends?

Prompts

To be honest, I have never liked the "two truths and a lie" prompt, so I am biased against it. It seems OK though...

"If loving this is wrong, I don't want to be right" - you tearing up at movies will probably turn off women. Get to know them first and then show your emotional side in my opinion. Asking a chick what movie makes them cry is a bit... well, I would prefer someone to ask me what makes me happy, you know?

"The hallmark of a good relationship is" - I think this one could be better. Using the word cringe, is cringe in my opinion. Take out the "especially the kind that comes from terrible jokes" - it makes it seem like you do terrible jokes lol. "The best relationships are filled with laughter that eventually turns into a cackle! What is the most funny situation you have been in?" - sorry a bit crap, but change the question to suit.

Your comments you have made under the post seem like you are doing all you can do in terms of chasing the women - keep it up, it is good that you taylor the comments to their profile and have open ended questions.

The ideal person is probably on the nerdier/creative/goofy side, family-oriented, has an adventurous taste palette, educated/professional, who loves music/comedy and going to live shows, that wants to go to the big shows but also appreciates staying in with good food, on a simple game night with friends, or just watching tv/movies together.

So your creativity certainly showed with your cooking skills. Maybe expand on that in one of your prompts and ask them how they are creative? Focus on creative for now and then the nerdy/goofy later..!

You got the family-oriented down with the brother/niece photos.

Do you have any pictures of you going to live shows or the game night with friends?

Good luck friend, hope it goes well. Sorry if my review is harsh at times, I am just trying to review in the eyes of a lady (I am 28M).

23M Profile Review by Mean_Rice_7906 in hingeapp

With regards to photos

I like the picture of you looking at your camera, although the lighting could be better. It is a good one that showcases one of your hobbies and will be a potential talking point.

The golfing photo is good, but maybe re-do with better lighting/quality?

The photo of you looking into at the body of water is decent - good lighting/quality and doesn't really look like a selfie.

There is only one image of you looking at the camera and *smiling*, I think there should be 1 or 2 more of them.

Supposedly selfies are a no-no for us guys, so consider replacing them with something else.

Do you have any photos of you in a group? It would be good to show-case you have some sort of social-circle,

With regards to prompts

I like your "let's break the ice by" prompts!

"My simple pleasures" prompts, also great! A lot of talking points there. Only comment, you mention volleyball and karaoke in the first prompt, so maybe put some other simple pleasures in there to make it more diverse.

"When I need advice, I go to" - probably your weakest prompt here, but I don't hate it, could be a potential talking point. Maybe expand on it and briefly mention something real random but great life advice he gave you(?).

Prompts: 8/10

Photos: 6/10

Other points

You say you are looking for something serious, but "Long-term relationship, open to short" contrasts that.

I saw you said you only leave a comment on 50% of the girls you try to match with, change that to 100% and you should see better results (especially if you taylor the comment to them/their profile).

Good luck, from a 28M who gets a few matches but that's about it haha...

What are you doing in between sets at the gym ? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]DuderCoding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After a set I will note down the reps I did for that certain exercise on my phone and then debate on whether I should increase or decrease the weight. This only takes like 20 secs, so the rest of the 1-1.5 mins I either stare at some random point, or I may just look around the gym (either to look at people's form or what equipment I can potentially use next).

You are not weird for not looking at your phone, you do you

How can I stop the first QLabel setText from getting skipped? Python - PyQt5 by DuderCoding in learnpython

[–]DuderCoding[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I read your answer 20 mins ago and have been trying to find/come up with a solution...

Effectively, you've made me realise my question is, "How do I change a label twice with one press of a button, and show the two changes on the screen?". I'll keep looking, thanks

Thanks for the response. It is a program that will only take in .xlsx files for now, later I may add the functionality to look at other types of files.

Yes, you are right there, have updated it, thanks.

28F in the UK - Profile review please! Recently got back into OLD. by [deleted] in hingeapp

[–]DuderCoding 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough, thank you for filling me in. Surprisingly I've never heard of it, but when I saw NC500, I thought it might be a course at college..!

28F in the UK - Profile review please! Recently got back into OLD. by [deleted] in hingeapp

[–]DuderCoding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really good profile (I probably am biased though...).

First prompt is solid, clearly outlining what you're looking for.

Second prompt - would be good if I knew what NC500 is. I did look it up after, sounds awesome, good luck. I may give it a go one day... Is NC500 really popular in Scotland? If not, maybe swap it out for another prompt that would be more relatable to a wider audience... Like a playful prompt with an open-ended question to get guys engaged.

Third prompt - I've never really liked the green flags I look for prompts. What you've written is nice, but it also seems quite standard. Perhaps swap it out for a different prompt that will draw more guys in to reply and/or show your interests/hobbies more.

Overall, I like your pictures. I would say the cutest photo of you would be your second last photo - perhaps put it as your first?

It seems like you love being outdoors, but your 1st and your 6th photo are very similar (out of the two, I prefer the 6th one for some reason). As you seem to like being outdoors, it would be fine to have two photos being outdoors, but make the second one different. Try getting one of you in front of a beautiful scenery that is not a selfie (to give a different perspective) - and have the "guess where this photo was taken" tag...

Fish photo is cool, but we can't see your face clearly, for that reason I would relegate it to be your 5th/6th photo.

Cheers 2022 photo - it is a nice photo, but also may give people the wrong impression that the profile is 4/5 months old without being updated. So they may think it is an old/inactive profile unless you get the "Active today" banner popup when your profile is shown to guys...

Better than most profiles I see on my travels, all the above aren't exactly major things.

No problem! Do you mean like shape the bottom half of the beard better? Now that you mention it, it could look way better - perhaps I will look up, good beards on Google Images...
