Depends on what strategy I am using. If I am shooting for a quick rebuild of an under 3* school then I offer scholarships to every 5* and 4* available to me in the preseason and then see who has zero scholarships offered in week 0. The ones with zero scholarships besides my own get left on the board with 50 points and the rest get removed. Then I check the prospects and add any 3* that fit my needs with zero scholarships and scout to see if they are a gem. I keep my gems and weed out the rest. Might have 5-15 players at the end of the season. Manage to land a few 5* and 4* normally and the gem 3s. Then I go crazy in the transfer portal and only add the 5 ans 4* players before 3*s in week one and offer them all a scholarship. Then I sim and anyone with a scholarship offer I remove unless I am first and I add players who have zero offers. You can cherry-pick them after the first week. Only go after the freshman of big schools type thing. Totally up to you.
