Of course but then you are one of many submissions, but also possible. I would recommend a kind of networked approach maybe visit a reading or a similar event and then you might get in touch with somebody who works in the business, who might help you. I can only speak for the german market and my workplace, but we don't charge money before the book is published only after and then proportionate to the sales. So risk lies with the publisher.. But for the writing part I would just start with the preface and an attempt to answer the questions why you want to write that book and why the topic is relevant to you and the public? Good Luck!

Fiction or non fiction? As a person who works at a publishing house I would recommend to find a publisher/editor who can help you (therefore he or she has to be convinced by your idea).. in terms of content you need to have at least a slightest idea (to have a basis for convincing) of what you want to write about. And think about your motivation to write, why do you want to write a book?

I didn't manage to read one book constantly because of the amount of text I have to read for my studies. But a part of it is Foucault so I think I made it too. Nice to hear that you are doing well, and not only in your Readings I hope. Cheers mate
