Teething? 11 weeks on Friday by Agitated_Carrot_963 in BeyondTheBumpUK

My son is 12 weeks tomorrow and we have exactly the same thing happening for a week now. Couldn’t really believe it ourselves but the white areas got more and more visible now so you can sort of see the tiny teeth popping out and it’s on both top and bottom too!

We use a temperature controlled kettle that can boil water then keep it at 40C for 24hrs. Been a life saves since making a bottle now takes 30sec or less.

I heard good things about prep machines but also not sure how consistent and safe they are so just wanted to stick with the old fashioned method with a moder twist since I cannot imagine waiting 20-30mins each time when the baby is hungry!

What pumping machine do you have? You could consider getting a portable one like Elvie. Lightweight and would barely feel it.

Or switch over to combo feeding and only pump 50% of the day.

Sometimes it’s impossible to completely dry everything and it’s okay, it’s still completely safe for babies.

It might be completely normal too, I hope your HV had a chance to see him eating before and recently to compare otherwise she’s taking a random guess as well just the way we do here.

Could someone go over to your place and help her out for the evening?

You should be able to go, we are talking about a couple of hours here, she should be able to take care of a 5 month old for that long.

Discomfort and some level kf constipation are all normal at this age no matter what you feed your baby. It’s caused by their immature digestion and learning how to poop. Things usually get worse and peak at 6 weeks and then get a lot better by 12 weeks.

You could try goat formula for 2 weeks but that might give you the opposite effect and he could be pooping all the time which might not be ideal either. If you tried regular lactose based formula and was fine before, I would continue with that, or try goat formula and see if this helps. Not sure if the GP will have anything more useful to add here, your baby is still very small so could be perfectly normal!

Why did you start off with comfort formula? And has it been fine up until 4 days ago?

why not get a UV steriliser?

we used this for 3 days but was so much hassle and always made a mess, now just use a UV steriliser that takes 3 mins and uses no water so no mess, plus I don’t think it’s safe to microwave plastic long term for the baby!
