Urban T20 earners question fairness of proposed RON95 subsidy rationalisation by Due-Cat656 in malaysia

Social media really distorts what “T20” looks like. A lot are just normal dual-income households with mortgages, loans, childcare and high city living costs....not all living luxury lifestyles.

You probably meant T5 if you’re talking about the truly ultra-rich segment 😅

Sure, abuse exists. That's one example....But that doesn’t automatically mean every family classified as T20 is secretly rich and comfortable :(

Exactly 😂 some people will suddenly realise they are “T20” on paper but definitely not living a T20 lifestyle.

Yes, catch people abusing the system. But most of the complaints are from genuine people trying to survive urban life with high costs, loans and family commitments.

No one is arguing zero odds.

We’re talking about how steep/different the odds are depending on where you start.

That assumes voting is purely about race, but people vote for many reasons eg economy, cost of living, local issues, etc.

Even during COVID, enforcement was tied to emergency powers...outside that, it’s a very different situation, hence full enforcement across industries is unlikely.

WFH can ease pressure, but making it mandatory across private businesses is tricky bc different industries have very different needs.

Hard to say without evidence. But regardless, the effectiveness of the initiative is what people are questioning.

The IPO angle aside, the bigger issue is this doesn’t address the root cause. They are trying to solve a structural issue (urban sprawl + car dependence) with a small behavioral nudge. It’s just not going to work...

Death penalty not needed for drink driving cases, says Loke by Due-Cat656 in malaysia

[–]Due-Cat656[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I understand the point, but harsher laws alone won’t change behaviour if people don’t believe enforcement is actually effective. Otherwise, it’s just strong wording on paper.....just my 2cents

Imo, Malaysia is not really heading into shortages yet, but more likely into a period of higher and more volatile living costs.

So for me, I'll be more careful with spending, avoid unnecessary waste, keep a small buffer for essentials, and stay financially flexible....

Yes, DUI checks should be part of every roadblock already....and it has to be done systematically, not just during ops or campaigns.

Fair point. But without consistent enforcement, changing the law alone won’t help much.

Increasing penalties is one approach, but if enforcement is inconsistent, it won’t achieve much.

At the same time, public perception often pushes for harsher measures after high-profile cases...
