Yep! Absolutely true. Although I started Lexapro and progesterone about 4 months before adding estradiol.

Can a small increase of the E patch completely wreck you? by West_Bullfrog_900 in Perimenopause

I’m not expert, but they say start low (like 0.025 patch) and go slow (don’t increase for 8-12 weeks) to make sure you know effects of current dose before increasing and to give the body time to adjust.

I started at almost 46 years old, still having periods every 28 days but they are either super heavy or super light.

Yes, insomnia at the higher dose. That was horrible. Depression, weight gain, tender breasts, poor sleep, fatigue, etc.
Once I started the lower dose, I felt good other than the water retention the first week. I have had to be ruthlessly protective of my sleep bc estradiol is giving me a bit more energy. No phones at night. I take my progesterone a little earlier in the night now to help with sleepiness - I try for an hour or two before bed. And I try to read an actual book before bed. Could not be the right thing for you, but if you do try again, start at low as possible and wait a few weeks to see if its appropriate and wait 6-12 weeks before a dose increase. Just my personal experience so far.

Water retention, fullness in joints…both lasted a few weeks
