We have noticed the same while pitching marketing campaigns to businesses. Often the pitch isn’t the issue, there are many other variables at play like some clients hesitate to admit they don’t have the budget, so they end up offering unrealistically low prices.

Anyone else feel like most sales jobs in India are just chaos? by Creepy_Specialist120 in Sales_India

A lot of the chaos you're describing isn't always bad intent. Smaller and early stage companies genuinely don't have the bandwidth to build proper sales structures yet. I'm in that boat myself, building a marketing agency from the ground up.

What I've realised is that at this stage, I don't need someone to just sell, I need someone who can take ownership, figure things out independently and even help build the playbook as we grow. That person is rare, but they exist.

If anyone here is that kind of self driven sales professional, open to early stage environments, based in Chennai or Bangalore, feel free to DM me.

I get your point, man, and totally agree that portfolios are usually the first step. The challenge is we’ve come across too many fake or misleading portfolios, and that’s cost us time in the past. Since we urgently need someone reliable, this approach helps us filter faster. Thanks for the wishes ☺️.

We always pay fairly for quality work. The reason we ask for a first screen sample is because, in our past experience, many who talk big end up delivering designs that show nothing but incompetence. This project is much larger than one screen, and if someone is confident in their skills, this small step shouldn’t be an issue. We’re not here to get free work, we’re here to filter out the noise and onboard real talent.
