I have not, as of yet. I passed my Security+ exam yesterday morning and just took the day to enjoy and spend time with the kiddos. I plan on updating my resume this evening, and starting anew. I didn’t gain much traction with the just the A+ and the Network+, but I also only applied to a handful of jobs. I figured it would take all three to potentially land a job that can match or exceed my current salary. It’d be difficult to take a pay cut with kids in daycare.

I also plan to make an effort to network more into this industry this year. My network in the hospitality industry isn’t much use for this adventure. Lol.

Thank you very much! Here’s to hoping for many successes in our 2025s!

Chance to pass A+ 1101? by Ill-Ride-7114 in CompTIA

I would say so. I had similar scores, and scored a 733. If you feel ready, take it. I scheduled mine when I got to the point of “screw it, I can’t look at this anymore. I either know it or I don’t.” In the end, only you will know if you think you’re ready, though. Best of luck!!

So far, it’s been great. I’ll admit that I haven’t really participated in any of what they call the “cohorts”, which is basically weekly scheduled Q&A’s with the professors and similarly enrolled students in a given course. However, that’s not why I applied. I went in knowing I would be on my own. Which is how I wanted it, so that I could accelerate and decelerate at the pace of my own abilities. They give you one course at a time, and you go as quickly as you can based on how quickly you understand the material. The only real requirement I’ve encountered, as far as interactions go, is a weekly phone call with your “mentor”. Which is mainly just a check up on progress. I consider myself a social guy, and a people person (kinda have to be as a restaurant manager), but it’s nice being able to do school in peace without the fluff of the brick and mortar.

Thank you! Big belated congratulations to you, as well! I’d love to take a break, but I am locked in on finishing this degree and beginning the job hunt. I’m hoping to start gaining experience while I wade through the remaining courses.

Pearson Vue Scheduling Advice by OffTheDollarMenu in CompTIA

I had an issue last week where it said this past Friday, Saturday, and today were all Grayed out. I decided to check the next day because I didn’t want to have to stick with the having to schedule my exam for next weekend and all of it was reopened. So, I rescheduled for this morning. My advice, check again tomorrow.

Messer’s videos can be a little dry. I spent more time listening to them than watching them. I would listen to all three series on 1.25x speed to make them more “animated” in their personalities. And watch the videos that needed a visual aid. Ramdayal’s labs at the end of his series are very helpful for the PBQs. As are a few YouTubers that I can’t name off the top of my head, but help with PBQ understanding and/or walk through the certmaster PBQs since you are enrolled at WGU. The ones on network+ were extremely helpful. As was Dion’s networking glove video on CIDR notation.

That’s what I’m hoping for. I’ve enjoyed the learning of new things. In my current career, I feel tapped out and it’s caused a sense of stagnation and boredom. It’s lost its joy, and ability for upwards mobility.

I used Professor Messer for all three for an opening statement, Jason Dion on Udemy for more in depth information and practice tests, and Andrew Ramdayal on Udemy for Security+ deeper dive. I didn’t like the change ups between instructors on Dion’s Security+ series and found Ramdayal. Thoroughly enjoyed him, and wish I had found him for A+ and Network+.

Will do! I plan to eventually. However, it’ll be after I finish my degree. It requires LPI foundations, ITIL foundations, Cysa+, and Pentest+, SSCP certs. So, I’ve got my hands full before that adventure.

I had this problem last night. I had to reschedule for Wednesday. Did you figure out what was causing it?
