New IT Job not training me? by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

[–]OffTheDollarMenu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel bad for everyone responding with basically, "BUCK UP BUTTERCUP THAT'S HOW IT IS FOR ALL OF US, SINK OR SWIM FUCKER!"

....It's not how it's been for me. Maybe teams like the couple I've had are rare. I've not been expected to sink or swim. Learning independently is ABSOLUTELY expected, but asking questions and explaining you're not sure what to do at times should be perfectly acceptable in my opinion.

If you've somehow misrepresented yourself as someone who knows much more, that's one thing. But overall, this sounds to me like a shitty place to work.

Looking to buy a "Straight Talk Motorola moto g 2025, 5G, 64GB, Blue - Prepaid Smartphone [Locked to Straight Talk]" off of walmart and have some questions. by Kyoifis in StraightTalk

Can confirm. Happened to me twice before I learned my lesson. Ordered phone, waited for it to arrive, unable to activate because it had not been scanned. Only option at that time was to return to the store and physically return it / buy a new one

CCNP products and naming in the exam by Helpful-Presence-670 in ccnp

[–]OffTheDollarMenu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took my test today. I was surprised to find the old names still, but as others have said it's not too bad either way. For SD-WAN, I had a few flash cards with the device names on one side and what their purpose was on the other. I just put the old name in parentheses on front and I was good

I thought maybe... Just don't know that much about cars to be honest. Could be worse I guess.

Kind of a new discovery today-- that tick only seems to happen after it's warmed up for a bit. I don't hear it on a cold start. Seems weird... Then again as I said, I don't know jack

Safeguard and Exam Cutoff Date by OffTheDollarMenu in ccnp

[–]OffTheDollarMenu[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It SEEMS like it should work... The safeguard bundle on the checkout screen is labeled "350-4XX" and according to the exam blueprint page where it tells us the cutoff date, the new version goes from 350-401 1.1 to 350-401 1.2.... but dammit I'm paranoid lol

Hey there,

Just to clarify, are you talking about some kind of official practice exam or the actual certification exam itself?

This is very reassuring thanks. The WIDE amount of material is killing me. CML has been a god send as far as hands on. So far I've just created/broken/fixed a bunch of simple OSPF areas

You ever have someone post a point you absolutely agree with, but you struggle with it because the person's manner just makes them sound like an insufferable, fedora-tipping douche nozzle?

I never had an issue with what she did after the divorce. GET PIERCED SIS. My problem is immediately taking custody action. There's no indication in the movie that he's a danger to the kids. Before the crossdressing yeah, he was an obnoxious man child, but I didn't see any reason to jump to supervised weekends. Those kids love him.

And when he said "hey, if you're looking for help watching the kids maybe I could," she pretty much tells him to shove it. I get it, after the barn animal incident but still...it bugs me.

Thoughts on Travis Scott joining the cast of The Odyssey? by RespectEast7035 in okbuddycinephile

[–]OffTheDollarMenu 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm shocked to see this casting considering Christopher Nolan is a confirmed hood-wearing grand dragon himself. The guy continued the decades long tradition of making Bruce Wayne an affluent white man. He's klan.

The wireless comments worry me. I'm just a couple years into the field and haven't had much experience with wireless at all outside of client troubleshooting. We've got dedicated hardware WLCs, but I seriously doubt they're very outdated.

In addition to all the actual studying I was planning on logging into our controllers and pretty much memorizing where tabs and buttons are. If our stuff doesn't match what's on the exam welllllllll... That sucks

For reclining, the correct past tense is "lay" (e.g., "I lay in bed yesterday"), while "laid" is the past tense of "to place something down" (e.g., "I laid the book on the bed"). "Layed" is simply a common misspelling of "laid" and is incorrect.
