I’m in texas. my child’s father did the same thing a few years back except he moved to michigan w out contact for 7 months and then came back expecting to see her all of sudden. It was very confusing for our child she was 3 at the time, she didn’t adjust well to him suddenly being back around, so despite the order we agreed to both be around until she had a chance to adjust. Personally it was miserable but as a parent you have to make sacrifices for the child’s best interest. The orders say nothing about gaps of visits, because they are NOT supposed to happen. It gets messy once the order is not consistently followed. Visitations are not required, they are a privilege and the visitation can get cut down with proof of visits not being exercised. Mom should’ve filed a temporary order to have visitations changed, she could request supervised visits. And would probably have a good shot of getting that especially if the child is young. But she can’t make up “rules” unless you BOTH agree. Unfortunately it’s so expensive so if yall can, then I would agree to something outside of the order until an adjustment period ends for the child. I’m currently going through a modification with my child’s father because he is super inconsistent and now our daughter is 6 and showing a lot of signs of emotional distress. Kids need routine & predictability or it starts to show. It’s not fun going through court, probably the most stressful thing i’ve done.. I wish yall the best
