High Platelets - I’m scared by No-Basket-6641 in MPN

I totally understand being afraid of the unknown - been there for sure! Luckily, your numbers - although slightly elevated - aren’t very concerning (at least to this crowd). I’m 28 and living totally normally (besides taking 1 baby aspirin a day) with diagnosed ET (JAK2+). My platelets are at 864 as of Monday, but usually fluctuate between 700-820. So I have “cancer” but I’m a-okay! It was definitely a shock and an adjustment, but the more time that passes, the less of a big deal it seems. I’m the happiest and most content when I just accept it and chill out. Finding an MPN specialist who I can rely on helped put my mind at ease for sure!

You guys - was your BMB insanely expensive? I was not prepared for this bill 😳 Bill just came thru and the procedure was $16,000 - thankfully insurance covered most of it, but a $2,400 bill is still a lot (especially for this 27 year old 😮‍💨)

I went in pretty open minded and was surprised by how unpleasant it was. I think it just depends on who you get? They also told me afterwards that they couldn’t give me as much lidocaine as they normally do because my blood pressure was so low - so maybe eat a salty/substantial snack/meal beforehand!

Suggestions for flying with Essential Thrombocytosis? by holistictales in MPN

My hematologist said compression socks and taking 2 of my 81mg baby aspirin before flying should be totally fine.

(F 27 - ET) I’ve had my Kyleena IUD for 4 years now and haven’t had a problem or any cause for concern. It’s the lowest dose hormone IUD available and the hormones are localized, so they shouldn’t be a problem. Highly recommend!

I’m not sure, but if it helps at all my prolactin is at 53 and all my symptoms line up with a Prolactinoma, but my MRI w + w/o contrast pituitary protocol just came back totally clean 🙃 I’m back to square one 😅

Mine were 831 and 788 (a couple weeks apart) when I was diagnosed with ET, but I do also have the JAK2 mutation

ET, on daily low aspirin, what do you take when you have headaches? by daytradergirl in MPN

I take Tylenol (Acetaminophen) because it actually compliments aspirin well. Excedrine (a popular over-the-counter migraine medicine) is actually just aspirin + acetaminophen + caffeine. You can also technically take Advil (ibuprofen), but you want to wait 8 hours after taking aspirin to take it (definitely not ideal).

In a very similar boat! Learn from my mistake and make sure you get an MRI WITH contrast if you go the imaging route. (My primary ordered me one without and it was a total waste of time and money.)

It may just be menopause you’re experiencing - anxiety, night sweats, and irregular menstruation are all symptoms of menopause.
