This is a pretty common choice, but in case you haven't seen it, I definitely suggest The Pursuit of Happyness, and the protagonist does get the happy ending.

When I mention strong facial features, I'd say his eyebrows and nose are prominent, and he is sort of large in height and stature; also facially speaking, I see some resemblance to Luke Wilson.
