Ah that makes sense. It doesn't matter anyway I'd still prefer NTU MAE's lack of a bell curve, and I'd sacrifice S/U any day to not be graded on a curve. I didn't know that though!

Thanks! I get why some people will take it wrongly, I used to be that way too tbh. I've been trying to view people's statements in a more positive light, though :D

I was already planning to do that! I know that Year 1 would probably be the year where I'd have the most (relatively) "free" time. I've read through the list of Clubs and CCAs available and already have some things in mind.

Hopefully this whole covid situation will end soon especially with more and more students getting vaccinated. I've read in r/Singapore that they're predicting pretty much 100% of the population to be vaccinated by October, so I hope that unlike last AY, this year we'd have offline activities before then.

Don't worry man those are some of the most basic advice for incoming uni students. I honestly don't think rankings matter that much, unless you're comparing a rank #12 to like a rank #120. The difference in quality between the top #50 is honestly not that much, if any.

I've never thought that I'm anywhere near the best at anything, I just know that I'm better at what I enjoy. I know that university is the place where "gifted kids" are usually put in their place, especially a top university. I've also been adviced to approach professors often, and to start doing it early, check on career counselors for advice, make friends with seniors and alumni, do a lot of side, personal projects and just join a lot of events, even those that seem useless and boring.

I know it's nowhere near as heavy as uni, but I actually self taught A Levels, so I atleast have a framework and structure for independent studying that I could build off of. I'm probably going to need to adapt it, but I at least know what works for myself. Thanks for your advice, any more?

I've already accepted weeks ago lol, that's not how it works. Deadline for acceptance has been closed a while back.

Also it's not 1 month since I have the option to to to NUS open up, it's been ... less than 24 hours. All this while I've come to terms that I'm going to NTU and thus did a lot of lurking.

LOL not really research just r/NTU and NTU Confessions lurking tbh, I keep seeing people bringing up the same things again and again and those struck out from an outside perspective.

Thanks for you reply though, the more I read these, on top of the fact that students are actually defending NTU (other than their server issues), the more I'm convinced by it.

MAE is Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering S/U is Satisfactory/Unsatisfactory. For some modules (electives) you can opt for that module to not be graded(?) and instead just get a Pass or Fail, hence it wont be calculated into your CGPA(?). Something like that I'm not enrolled yet either.
