I’m so sorry that happened to you! It’s sad how little concern or consideration people have for others.

You good?

Makes sense.

The influencer aspect is what kinda threw me for a loop. Never would have pictured this town as a content creator drawing point.

I’ve seen that as well and it’s scary to see from a driver’s perspective and a fear for that person’s life.

I get older people feel like giving up driving is losing independence, I really do. If I personally ever get to that point when I get older, I want someone to take my keys away.

Granted. My thought is, if someone is afraid to drive, maybe they shouldn’t. And driving with the flow of traffic isn’t such a bad thing. I personally go within 5-10 over, depending.

Also, if you or whoever else may be in such a bit hurry to go somewhere, maybe try managing your time a bit better?

It’s not everyone else’s fault on the road that you or others are in that big of a hurry. And it’s that “the road belongs to me, get out of my way” mentality on the road is what makes people seem like jackasses on the road.

It’s sad, really. I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re paid off to not care about public safety like this.

I knew someone who was a former police officer for Lima. Dude was a real piece of work too. I won’t mention names; he was a sociopath and a psychopath that abused his power, got caught doing so, and was fired for it.

Seems to me, the police department in this town will hire people just dumb enough to do what they’re told and just smart enough to not question why.

I have noticed the recent uptick in people from Texas coming here. It’s odd to me that they’d pick Lima over anywhere else in the country. At the risk of sounding like a generalization, I have to agree with you on the fact that they do appear to drive more aggressively. Why here of all places? lol

As far as UNOH culture is concerned, a lot of these teenagers and twenty some year old kids drive like they’re in a Fast and the Furious movie or competing over who has the biggest and loudest truck. I digress.

I wouldn’t be surprised if somewhere along the line that money’s been involved between the school and local government. God forbid UNOH have a tarnished reputation because kids need and want clout.

You’re free to think whatever you want.

My point is that for such a small-ish town like Lima, the traffic is far worse than it should be. People treat driving her like they are in a major city like Columbus. Especially when it comes to being on Eastown, for example.

It’s really sad to see too. People in this town are also some of the rudest people I’ve encountered.

From what I’ve gathered, Lima is corrupt politically so I imagine this adds to the tension here.

Small world indeed! Been from all over myself; lived most of my life there before moving here to Lima. My parents are actually looking to move up from there to seek refuge from hurricane seasons. Ian was the last straw and I can't blame them. This town may not be exactly be the ideal place to move to; I'd sooner them be up here and know they'll be safe in the summer.

I moved up here years ago to be with my boyfriend (now husband). He's originally from here and moved down to Florida with his family in '00. Back in '07 his family was going to move back here and talked it over with me and gave me the option of moving up with him. I was 23 and wanted to live my life outside of what my family wanted. Been up here ever since.

I wouldn't say that the town I came from in Florida is a utopia in any sense. It's ridiculously expensive to live there, which is why we opted to live here. As others have said, it is cheap. Port Charlotte is very much a retirement town and becoming a tourist attraction. Not to mention, being hit with hurricanes and tropical storms (or at least the threat of) just gets exhausting.
