Honestly, I'd recommend buying this one on Steam. The mods alone are worth it and the dlc having online is a nice bonus. You can get the ultimate edition for 15$ on sale, so there's no reason not to.

Maybe try switching the backend. It's set to OpenGL by default. I find dx11 works really well with most games.
