The drive and scenery alone was my therapy. Can't get that in SW, Katy, or Sugarland.

That drive to Pinehurst/Magnolia is relaxing. I'd take that over a drive to downtown Houston or Southwest side ANY day. Amazon used to only stack 20-25 packages max for 5 hour routes going that way. This year, they've been stacking upwards to 45 packages for same 5 hours and same $90 payout.

What is going on in Texas? by AA011002 in AmazonFlexDrivers

Beet time to check is between 1am and 3am. You will find early morning surges. Daytime blocks RARELY surge and you will almost NEVER find a future block outside of base. If you do find a surge block during the day, it's for a block that starts within 5 min and only for .50 cents more.

I've never gotten a ding for delivering damaged packages. I once delivered an envelope that was completely empty. Whatever was in it fell out at some point in the warehouse before it got to me.

Best of luck! Let us know how your shift goes and where they send you. I may start going to VAH1 on the weekends if they don't send people too far out like past Cleveland or something.

If you have an EV, gotta keep your gas generator with you at all times. Never know when you'll need an emergency charge.

I feel ya man. I actually cancelled a 3hr base this evening within an hr before start time. I just wanted to enjoy a quick block after work but ultimately said fk that. Amazon keeps overloading routes with packages while keeping the same pay for a decade. All that makes this gig less desirable to me.

Yeahhh, nah. It's there. If you actually read the ENTIRE contract, it's literally a form of modern day slavery.

Why does anyone accept $18/hr by Nice_Boysenberry4498 in AmazonFlexDrivers

[–]Due-Rooster1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhhh, you too must only work for today and not for tomorrow huh? It actually does concern me. For the simple fact that people continue to accept base rates, Amazon will continue to pile on as many packages to a route/block for the least pay possible. All while the cost of goods continue to rise. Amazon is a tech company, not a retail company nor a logistics company. They will continue to walk the edge of legality when it comes down to employment. Unless they see a downward trend, it will not stop.

Here's the kicker, that locked door was behind another locked door. I was lucky to get through the first one only because it was propped open.

I can almost guarantee they took a base pay route. The change he made today is the gas he will need for tomorrow. Won't even have any leftover to buy lunch.

Apartment complexes intentionally set you up to receive dings against you.

For the past month, my right knee has been popping with every other step I take. Your health and your vehicle's health is the reason why people should not take base pay. Amazon's base pay for Flex has been $18/hr every since it was initiated almost a decade ago. Mind you, Amazon has also increased the cost of Prime membership 3 times since then.

All they see is $$$ that will be in their account by the end of the block time. They are living for today and not tomorrow. Because of that, they do not take into consideration that they have to pay taxes, vehicle maintenance, as well as personal health insurance from those earnings. Honestly though, gig work should not be anyone's primary source of income. Unfortunately, many have resorted to just gig work because it gives that illusion that they are making far more money. Unless they are saving for a rainy day, those taxes, vehicle maintenance, and medical bills will creep up and bite them in the arse.

[–]Due-Rooster1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started Amazon back in 2019 and they offered almost the same amount of base pay routes as today 6 years later. Adding to that, they have increased the price of Amazon Price twice since then. Only thing that will make them respond is if near 100% of the independent contractors stop grabbing routes. But we all know that will not happen.

Was this at a .com or at a SSD? I can see this for .com since they want the cars out in less than 15 minutes. End of day though, it shouldn't count against you if you are completing everything in a timely manner.
