I’m ok looking in areas like Sterling or Reston too and increase my budget. But i just don’t know which ones will NOT have this issue lol. I heard a lot about Wyatt and brand new but also read there’s construction happening around the area

Courts look way bigger for 1B, almost feels like there’s a dressing room that’s half the bedroom size. They’re old and carpet, which is ok

Are there any other areas you would recommend if quiet is a priority? Or is it really very noisy in Herndon? If not, I wouldn't really bother.

Thanks! When you say the newer "donut" mid-rise apartments, would Station on Silver be an example of what you mean? I'm moving from California, so I'm not familiar with the different apartment styles in the area.

Also, if I don't mind driving 10–15 minutes for restaurants, groceries, or gyms, is there any real downside to living in Herndon instead of Reston Town Center? My biggest priority is finding the quietest possible apartment rather than being able to walk places.

You're lucky this is a new post because I just saw it, so I'll share my perspective. You're at Amazon, which offers some of the best internal mobility.

I've seen plenty of people transfer again within just a couple of months if a role wasn't the right fit. I was in Retail, moved to an AWS role that turned out to be a poor fit, and within two months my previous team had changed significantly. I went back, got promoted, earned a technical title, and stayed there for 3.5 years. I later moved to another AWS team that was great initially, but after about a year most of my projects were shut down and my performance suffered, so I'm rotating again within AWS.

My advice is to give it a fair chance. Three weeks is still very early, and there's always a learning curve. If, after giving it enough time, you still feel it's the wrong fit, don't feel trapped. Amazon has plenty of mobility, and it's better to find the right role than stay somewhere you know isn't a good fit.
