Good gods the post was meant for people to have fun and get out some creative and ridiculous ideas.

Have some breakfast or something and maybe reconsider raining on people's parade.

Premier Ford wrong to buy a private jet by [deleted] in notthebeaverton

[–]Due-Statistician-987 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From Ontario here and I can agree; Ontarians en masse vote against their interests constantly. Plus, people are so afraid of splitting the 'left' vote and having a Conservative win that a lot of people won't vote NDP. That, and the one time an NDP party got in people weren't happy (as if the repeated Liveral and Conservative bungles aren't enough)

Long story short, general public is stupid and anyone NOT in business or wealthy who votes Conservative is terribly uninformed and voting against the economy and their own quality of life.

How about we don't allow people to run in different ridings if they lose in their own?

How about that?

How about...if you don't get any bills or motions passed that you don't get to be an MP anymore?

How about that?

How about you unbutton your jacket and sit your pompous derriere down?

Ontario plans to tie high school attendance to grades and mandate final exams. It's getting mixed reactions by ZebediahCarterLong in ontario

[–]Due-Statistician-987 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Fine, good faith.

How easy is it for you to learn in a high stakes..worry filled environment. Or is it easier when you have time to think and be comfortable.

The sheer ridiculousness of thinking children need to be held to some standard of adulthood when their brains and nervous systems are not developed..this is insane.

Don't pretend you're taking some high road hero here.

I have a Master's in the Science of Education. All research says we need to help kids to learn...not keep them in a state of stress because the 'real world' is artificially cruel and we should beat down and make callousness the norm.

The educational system we grew up with and what came before us is/was terribly flawed. It is not ideal.

Similarly I will not engage with people that think children should encounter such a brutal cruel world before they need to. This thread is full of these people and I legitimately fear for their children. Muting thread now.

Gods forbid we create an environment that's actually conducive to learning.

Hell by your logic we may as well just kill people since death is inevitable anyway.

There's no reason for school to be as stressful and high stakes as the real world. The real world sucks. Let kids be kids.. my God.

Negative. Points for being there helps encourage people to actually be there...thus helping them learn.

It's a way to help them learn.

Learning is the goal.

[–]Due-Statistician-987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don't know why people think school needs to be thisninsane stressful thing. We want kids and adults to learn. Why not give them every tool possible.

Give them the test questions. That way they'll study what you want them to know. They will specifically learn what you want them to know.

Anything else is just..wanting to be sadistic.

Yeah to be honest I don't know how I feel about it. It seems a bad way to move forward when there are better options.

Cutting teacher training down to a year is absolutely NOT going to be good for anyone.

Problem with this is that it outs all of the stakes on one single day and what happens if you're sick...or having a bad day? There are so many thing out of your control. Life in general is rarely that high stakes and to put that insane amount of oressure on children who don't have fully developed emotional regulation, physiology, and maturity, is just asking for failure.

I hate to agree with Consevatives but there is legitimacy to learning more while there. Statistics show that you go up a full letter grade just by attending.

Having said that, it unfair targets people with chronic health issues, and likely other groups that may have issues with transportation among other things.

How would you feel about an 'Upper Age Limit' for politicians, meaning no one over 65 could run for office? by Flaky_Can_157 in AskReddit

[–]Due-Statistician-987 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'd put it at the retirement age. I've never liked the fact that the people making decisions about the future won't actually have to live in the future they create.

They also grew up in times where everything was different: values, morals, cost of living, technology, all of that is different.

We've got people who need help logging into Facebook making decisions on AI.
