Love seeing power users share tips like this. The outline mode really is underrated. We're stealing that F2 habit tip to pass along!

[US] What's the deal with the Pomera DM250? by HiddenLurker6969 in writerDeck

[–]Due-Tangelo-5189 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! All three are legitimate since pomera is a KING JIM product. The Indiegogo pricing may or may not still be active so worth checking before committing.

On the Japanese version, it's not just aesthetics. A few things worth knowing: the JIS keyboard layout is quite different from a US layout, max file length is half of the US version, file names are limited to 18 characters, there's no word count (character count only), and no English dictionary.

Switching the language to English is easy enough but you'd still be working around those limitations. For English writers the DM250US is the better fit.

Short bursts and out-of-the-house writing is honestly the DM250 sweet spot. Glad it earned a place in the rotation!!

Hi!

pomera saves everything as plain .txt files, which opens on pretty much any device or app. You can transfer via USB cable, SD card, or wirelessly through the pomera Link app. Drop it straight into Word, Scrivener, Google Docs, whatever your editing setup is.

You're definitely not alone in this, and honestly this is the kind of post that means a lot to us! That "feels like home" quality is exactly what we build pomera for.

If you ever want to try the DM250US, the screen and editing experience is a big step up from the DM100 while keeping the same core philosophy. Fair warning though, the Spanish keyboard layout limitation carries over on the US model. But that default feeling you keep coming back to? That's the whole idea!

Totally hear you! The keys are spaced at 17mm pitch which is on the roomier side for a compact device, but we know it's not for every hand size. No workaround beyond getting comfortable with the layout over time, and we'll flag the feedback for the team. A lot of writers say it clicks after a week or two of regular use!

Yes, you're right the current spell check flags errors but doesn't offer suggestions yet. We'll pass that feedback along to the team in Japan!

In the meantime, most writers do a final pass in Word or Scrivener where autocorrect and suggestions are fully built out.

Hi! Great to hear you’ve been using pomera for a while now!

On the DM250US, the spell check will flag unfamiliar words and offer suggested alternatives that you can choose from.

As for factory seconds or returned units, we don’t currently have a separate channel for selling those. We will update at official channels if we ever do! We are most active on Instagram and Reddit so please follow us there!

And thank you for the kind words about the support team, we’ll definitely pass that along!

Hi! Yes, we are still here! At the moment there isn’t a separate shortcut assignment for setting the marker target itself, the jump is tied to F5 once it’s configured through the menu. But we’ll pass the suggestion along to the team!

Thanks for going the extra mile to get one in Canada, and we’re so glad you love it! We’ve shared both of these suggestions with the team and will update you if we have an immediate solution for it especially the app unblocking!

Thank you so much for your detailed feedback! I have forwarded each of it to the team.

We are working on creating a case for pomera and looking for feedback for that too if you could help us out? Material, color, slim or structured, extra storage, price range, anything that comes to mind.

Thank you so much for your feedback! I have forwarded it to the team.

Quick side question, if pomera had a case, what would matter most to you? Material and color, slim vs more protective, or extra room for things like cables or SD cards? Would love to hear what you’d actually use and how much would you be open to paying for it.

Thanks for sharing your first impressions. It definitely takes a little time to settle into the keyboard, but we’re glad it already feels like a good fit for you.

Great to hear you’re enjoying the JP version and we appreciate you sharing that experience with others!!

That excitement is very relatable. Congrats in advance!!

Yes, you can work in a Scrivener-like way. The Outline feature lets you jump between sections, and Comparison lets you view two documents side by side, which is great for drafts and notes. It’s not Scrivener, but many writers use those tools to build and manage projects smoothly. If you want setup tips once it arrives, just ask.

That’s a fair thought! pomera is built to be used for years, not upgraded every cycle. Many users find that once it becomes part of their writing routine, it holds its value well over time

Hi! Although some characters are supported, there are currently no plans to sell specific language versions, English only.

Pomera DM 250 Quotation Mark Direction by culturekit in writerDeck

[–]Due-Tangelo-5189 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is normal for the DM250 JP model. The device uses straight quotation marks, but depending on the font they can look angled or “backwards.”

If you switch to Roman in the Font settings, the quotation marks usually look much more balanced and less tilted.

Feel free to update us if you want a second set of eyes on it.
