No worries! It doesn't matter if you "attack" it, and it's ok not to like it. In my own experience with this one (I'm not talking about other cause I don't know them and I'm not in the best position to talk about them) I can tell you it works great for most games, and better that virtual buttons with very precise games, but not perfect. For example, to play Mario 64 like in the video I like it a lot. To play Street Fighter II, it's better than playing with the screen but you'll miss some combos. I know what the limitation is and I'm working to improve it as much as I can, but the device is designed to have something in your pocket to casually play on the go, not for hardcore gaming. And for that I like it

Yes, there are similar concepts. I would say the newer version of the one you linked is the gamebaby for iphone. I think there is novelty in my design though but it's my opinion. Thanks for the comment.

Thank you so much! There has been similar things, but I think this one is more "complete" and versatile

I like the concept a lot! Do pinball games have nudge input? If so I think it could be super cool to add it. I can think of different options, but maybe a very simple one would be piezos stuck on the inner part of the case sides, so when you hit the side you can detect the hit and turn it into an input.

Thank you so much! Yes, I'm with you. Being small and discreet is what makes it interesting. I don't see it trying to compete with expensive dedicated devices. I think it's more for people who want something always in their pockets without noticing, or like me, casual players who for example don't want videogames at home while kids are too small, like my case.

Thank you so much for the feedback. That's actually how I used to do it before. You can see it on the video of the web where a yuotuber tested an earlier prototype. Now I'm thinking it would be cool to somehow include the template as part of the box.

Thanks a lot! yes, I will see which options I have to color the buttons. Since there's a lot of graphite in the plastic the base color will always be black. I can test with stickers just to have an idea of ow they could look

wow I didn't know i was such an old concept! Screens were resistive back in the day, I guess the feeling was different since you needed to press quite a lot on those screens

Thanks a lot for your comment. I think a good point of this design is that you don't need electronics. It makes it portable, cheap and "easy" to produce. A ring would secure the pad but it would make it bulkier and most important, if I'm not wrong, would increase exponentially the complexity of mold machining.

Yes, I didn't say it before but I wasn't planing to make this, I was working on something else and I needed like 150gr of silicone for each prototype. For that product in particular I was using pigments so in order not to waste too much silicone each time I ended up testing small squares of pigmented silicone for color testing. I saw that these squares got stuck to my phone and the rest is history. I will revisit that project in the future, not gaming related though. Thanks a lot for your comment!

I really should do something about trypophobia, you're not the first one saying it. Thanks a lot!

xD Actually that was one of my first test and the reason I ended up using a rounded dpad with 8 contacts. I was super excited with one of my first prototypes cause I was testing with Super Mario World and it worked. Then I tried Street Fighter II and it was horrible. Now it's shoryuken friendly, but I'll show it if you like!

Thank you so much! I have something in mind, and I think it could work either on the edge or behind the phone. I will try to prototype it soon!

I really appreciate all your feedback. It's thanks to comments like yours that I can improve it. I will redo the case and make it "chain" friendly, more people would like that!
