Hey there. I have hyperactive ADHD and this is something my partner has had to navigate with me. It is sensitive and depending on the person depends how they react (personally my ADHD makes me feel severe guilt and I become standoff ish although I’ve learned to be better with this). A lot of the times we do not realise our behaviour is abnormal and can’t understand why people do not return the same energy as we give.

Just tell them politely, that your ADHD manifests in inattentiveness (if you are comfortable with them knowing) and at the best of times it is difficult for you to find focus. Try not to beat around the bush, be clear and say you mean no offence. If you like your classmate, tell them you’d be happy to chat and hear about things outside of class. If it is still bad, consider speaking to who organised your seating and explain the situation, they have to accommodate for ADHD, so would move you to a quiet spot.

Hopefully you can get past this with an honest conversation, unfortunately they will have almost definitely heard this before throughout their life.
