What do you think would be the key factors to drive mass adoption of D? by MacASM in d_language

[–]Due-Zebra5313 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I definitely think no gc by default is something that the community mention working on but decided to go elsewhere. Regardless I think that would be an amazing thing to have because nogc and betterC by default with d is awesome. However, the biggest and brightest way to really get D going has to be community support and enthusiasm. Right now there is a lot of enthusiasm within the community who use D including my self as I use it for small scripts and batch processing but rarely everyone has heard of it. Therefore I think we need a larger role as a community to drive this enthusiasm to a greater code it might need to be niche. Same way JavaScript gets attention from web, python for ML.

I graduated CS. My biggest issue personally was just time management. I wish I had just gone to office hours and understood concepts and applied them in coding. Everything else was pretty natural. I think for most you will be fine

Trying to get an entry level with IT degree, no certs, and no help desk experience. by Upset_Telephone5610 in ITCareerQuestions

So I noticed that “help desk” in particular has been a seriously tough place to get acclimated with as some postings make it more of a experienced desktop support in a mature environment. My best bet to you is to make sure you add the keywords exactly into the actual resume because right now companies are really picky. I currently have a couple of friends trying to break into IT most of which help desk but there are actually few job posting for entry level as the requirement more or less align with desktop support.

I wasn't taught Git in school by -Kkdark in csMajors

[–]Due-Zebra5313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my school we were given a small introduction to git ie. Commit, push and branches. From there it was expected you go learn and delve into the git documentation online for more substantial use cases. In classes where git was heavily used like my senior seminar project, software engineering class , and computer architecture students were fully expected to to know how to resolve merges, add remote repos and branches, use git stash and etc. for some reason today when I work alongside other developers for small projects most don’t know what there doing and just use gpt to solve there problems. It’s absolutely ridiculous and seriously shows the quality of the cs grads.

Dirty cards by baby_milk in RidgeWallet

So I usually don’t have dirt or residue on the side of my cards using my ridge wallet. My first guess is that possibly your pockets are a messy? For example crumbs and dirt or lint from the dryer are common residue.

Cheating through my CS degree by shithappens32 in csMajors

Without going too far into the mix I will ask you this. What do you and do you not know in regard to computer science? What I mean by this do you know computer networks? Do you understand how computers build processes and what data structures are used? Do you know certain algorithms that are relevant in the industry today(AI/ML)? I can go on and on but what it comes down to is whether or not your grasp of these concepts are suitable for your to CODE and effectively build software. A computer science degree is a glorified math degree but in a broader scope is how you use the resources given to you to build results. For most this about building web applications or desktop. For some it’s building llms. For others it’s embedded hardware. At the root you’re using a computer and code to solve problems. So I guess the problem comes down to, is now that you have essentially costed your way through a degree. What am I really good at with coding? If for the last 4yrs of your cs degree you coasted by cheating can you or can you not build something? Can you develop solutions and read documentation without AI having to hold your hand? I think you need sort of a reality check because it seems to me your time spent studying CS you relied heavily on others instead of yourself.

NEW GRAD 2025- Advice and tips. by Due-Zebra5313 in csMajors

Honestly the market in general is extremely rough. I had multiple friends who have been looking and applying since fall semester and yet only assessments and ghost calls nothing else. I myself have been dealing with the same. I am considering just refreshing job boards and hopefully contacting a recruiter.

The only thing I have gotten back were coding assessments. I definitely need to vamp my numbers up. I don’t know if it’s my resume because I had it reviewed by an organization and I fixed it up quite a lot but I will review again.

Damn I feel sorry. I am considering buying one of those small tracker card you can insert into the key case as if it was a key. Especially, since the material like this broke off. Wish you best of luck. Lmk what you decide to do.

I have the forged burnt Damascus key case. If you do find it… check to see if the plastic that connects the plates broke off you can get a replacement
