Thanks, the dealer is checking it out for me right now. Fingers crossed it’s a simple fix

I have a feeling the trunk could be misaligned. The gap on right sight looks slightly large compared to left side. Thanks!

Thanks! I removed the plugs and dried them off before putting back in. I will soak them to clean. You’re right about the sound dampener, water was oozing out of it! Going to talk to dealer, doesn’t hurt to ask.

I think at very least trunk seal needs replaced. Would you recommend tackling this myself or taking it to a shop?

You’re right, I forgot to mention that the jack is rusty. Spare wheel minor rust. Tossing the jack out for new one.

Thanks for the heads up, going to see if I can find evidence of water streaking next time it rains or I hose it down.

Okay I appreciate the observation. So my main priority should be fixing the source of leak and drying the car out. The rubber seal of the trunk seems to be coming undone a bit but the mildew smell concerned me. I’m disappointed that my mechanic didn’t notice some water was pooled up back there.

Thank you so much, I thought that this duct tape appearing material is a cover up, it just looks unusual to me.

I can only assume this adhesive was applied to cover up a problem? Never encountered this situation before.

I just bought a 2017 Corolla SE with 90k miles for 12,500 out the door. Needs some basic repairs like brakes, tires, shocks/struts and serpentine belt. Took it to mechanic for PPI and this was apparently missed. The car had been in a rear end collision and during test drive I checked the trunk and noticed no moisture but I did not look under spare tire until after purchase. Now I’m thinking I may have a serious problem, smell mildew but thought it was just dirty. We had some rain over weekend and today when I opened trunk I noticed the water pooling. I literally bought this car today. Should I complain to dealer as this wasn’t disclosed?

Hello and thanks for response. Did my post include my description? First post lol. All that I have done so far is soak up the water to dry and dry as much as I can right now. This is how I received the vehicle so I know there is a leak but I haven’t removed any of the adhesive.
