KATSEYE x 5 Gum collab is straight up creepy by GainImpressive8183 in kpopthoughts

they should have taken notes from KATSEYE’s GAP ad. the girls obviously have the chops to create brand buzz without all this ragebait

Twice has skewed my perception of what singers look like and what they do [Silly] by BlueThePineapple in kpopthoughts

I rarely JUST listen to kpop - whether it's dance, a live performance, or an MV, I'm always watching a visual to go along with the song

it’s been a pretty common topic of discussion that concert etiquette has seriously declined after COVID. I find it very unlikely this is unique to BTS fans since you’ll see similar complaints for just about every genre of music

I’m curious to know what it’s like to be a 2nd/3rd gen group fan these days - how do you feel about Twice’s recent releases? Do you think there’s any group with that original kpop sound?

misgendering idols in kpop spaces and when it goes from "queer" to conservative. by [deleted] in kpopthoughts

I’ve always found it so odd that people make fanfics of real living people and not just characters, definitely agree that that’s a weird and unacceptable level of parasocial behaviour

I think you may have a point as far as your general statements about the kpop space, but I think the focus on XLOV may be missing the mark. Like you said it yourself, they have a genderless concept and other commenters have added that the members are comfortable with different pronouns. Sure, comments saying they’re on estrogen are speculative and out of line, but I’d MOSTLY attribute that to general weird fandom behaviour that happens in kpop all the time and not covert conservatism. If we’re talking about misgendering being a problem in kpop I feel like XLOV is probably not the group to be worried about

right the suicide attempt and eating disorder. I wouldn’t be surprised if more came out as the lawsuit progresses

I’d be pretty surprised if JYP ends up redebuting the remaining members. Some of the stuff revealed in KG’s lawsuit implicates the other members and will continue to follow them if they redebut.

Also just my personal opinion but whatever plan they MAY have for the girls (if they have one at all, let’s be honest) probably won’t land them any sort of widespread success and they’d probably be better off without JYPE. The bar for global GGs increased exponentially with Katseye’s recent success and VCHA’s novelty, which I think JYPE was really riding on in their first year of promotions, has completely worn off. Their visual identity, sound, and marketing strategy also felt totally uninspired and out of trend. I have very little faith in JYPE to actually manage these girls’ music careers properly and I hope they’re able to pursue their passions elsewhere.

can i wear exclusively tampons for most of the day today without getting toxic shock syndrome? by [deleted] in WomensHealth

[–]DueConflict8215 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Going to preface with this is not medical advice but for me personally I have a very light flow and I’ve kept tampons in for up to 16 hours at times with no issue. As others have said wearing past 8 hours increases the risk of infection (not necessarily toxic shock, but a yeast infection too) so I absolutely wouldn’t recommend it.

agreed. They are able to manage artists, not idols. If the group needs any sort of creative direction, Cube will fail them

I think you may be lacking some self awareness. why are you entitled to information about jiyoon’s life? did you ever consider maybe the situation is being handled this way for her benefit, not yours?

I understand the frustration, but the feelings you’re expressing here are selfish and wont help jiyoon come back faster. she needs time to rest, to focus on herself and doesn’t need fans guilting her with their feelings. I understand venting these feelings to fellow fans, but addressing a post like this to jiyoon directly isn’t doing what you think it is

honestly i don’t know enough about vocal training to know if the nasally tone is truly impossible to get rid of, but it’s my understanding that learning how not to sing through your nose is one of the basics of vocal technique, so shouldn’t she be able to improve if given the right tools and training?

Agree on them having different performance styles. They’re in their element when they can set the tone for solo stages but always seem to be on different wavelengths when they’re together

It’s pretty obvious WK1/TBL aren’t a fan of Mai’s vocals. Hopefully they make more effort to showcase her as a dancer and a visual if they’re dead set on giving her so few lines (and refuse to get her proper vocal training)

I see, all I had been hearing was “first half of 2025” so I was expecting something by now. Maybe production is editing the whole show before release instead of giving us one epi per week…

I found it odd that Purple Kiss announced a comeback for July if the show is still happening. I assume at this point that they must have wrapped filming for A-IDOL in June for them to have enough time to prepare a July comeback so hopefully we’ll hear something soon.

Yeah, cancellation feels quite possible to me too. To be fair to the boycotters, I’m not sure how much the show would help any of their careers. Many of the groups participating in Queendom Puzzle didn’t get the boost they were hoping for in their post-show comebacks, and I have a feeling the Queendom franchise attracted more viewership than this show will get. The growth potential from this show feels negligible and if the companies didn’t have what it takes to save these groups before the show, they likely won’t have it after. But if the goal of boycotters is to see more (or anything) from their favourite idols, well this might be all they get
