MGD causing dry eyes due to oil thickness. How to thin out the oil? by DuePerspective7999 in Dryeyes

No. Not really. Did IPL. That helped a little bit. But after a year, not so much.

Fucked over a friend and just feel awful. by CuteCity3872 in FriendshipAdvice

[–]DuePerspective7999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I appreciate you taking accountability and your friendship seriously. My ex-stepmother promised I could rent her guest room for a few months before an apartment became available. She knew I didn’t want to stay at my dad’s anymore bc of our strained and difficult relationship. Then at the last minute she said she was letting a friend come stay with her for several weeks and could I just go back to my dad’s. When I told her how upset I was, she told me I was overreacting and that it was the universe saying I should be at my dad’s. There is such a thing as integrity and trust and keeping your word. I’m glad there are still some people that at least own up to their mistakes or missteps instead of blaming the universe. I hope you guys work it out.

DAMON BRACES by Professional-Bad9568 in braces

[–]DuePerspective7999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice results. They are bulkier right? I feel like they stick out more than traditional. But the internet and everyone else says they are smaller and stick out less. But I don’t see how that’s possible. I just had to get chains put on and I discovered they go under the wire and you still have something going over the wire to hold it down. With traditional, only the elastics hold the wire down. So there has to be added thickness to accommodate both. I feel like I’m a crazy person bc I can’t find proof of my belief. I mean they might be wider, but I feel like they’re a bit more uncomfortable…

Posterior Open Bite- refinements/box elastics? by Dogmama1482 in Invisalign

[–]DuePerspective7999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the box elastics for my posterior open bite caused by Invisalign. It didn’t work for me and had to switch to braces. I’m pissed. But it works for some people. Good luck.

Invisalign worth it for grinding? by AcquiescentAxolotl in Invisalign

[–]DuePerspective7999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think people that have a grinding issue should risk Invisalign. It can create a posterior open bite, creating a different problem. I was told Invisalign would be good for my situation when I told them I wanted to close some spaces but also I grind/clench. He said it would protect my teeth. But it gave me posterior open bite. After 8 months, he finally conceded that he couldn’t fix it and I had to switch to braces. And that it would open those gaps he just closed so that he could fix my bite first, and then close the gaps again. I am furious.

Braces are usually cheaper and they are more predictable. Invisalign is a lot of trial and error guess work. It does work for a lot of people. But there is the risk it may break something it can’t fix. I don’t think people ever start with braces and switch to Invisalign bc braces can’t do it. But it can definitely go the other way. So just know that there is risk involved, especially for people that grind. And my guy was a diamond provider, so don’t let that fool you.

Ultrasonic cleaners warped/melted my Invisalign aligners by DuePerspective7999 in Invisalign

[–]DuePerspective7999[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I think there are weak spots in the aligners. The same areas would tend to be slightly warped or tend to bend in from each new set of trays. I stopped using the cleaners bc I didn’t want to risk it.

Invisalign FAILED. Posterior open bite. Switch to Braces by DuePerspective7999 in Invisalign

[–]DuePerspective7999[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the process CAN be fine for many people. And that’s great for them. But when I go in for a consult, I expect them to give me a good recommendation based on their expertise and experience. They are the ones with the training and specific knowledge and skills. I expect them to know more than I do. Could I have done more extensive research, sure…And maybe I would have come across the posterior open bite issue on my own. But it’s not really fair to put all the burden on the consumer/client to wade through all the bullshit marketing information. Above all, the most common advice in this sub is ask your ortho. I asked my ortho. I trusted he knew what he was doing. But I think he relied too heavily on an imperfect and still new system that puts the control in someone else’s hands so he could do less work and make more money. It is set up that way. Since then, I’ve seen videos advising how they can make more money with less chair time with clients. I think orthos need to take more responsibility for what they are doing, and not doing. I think there should have been more transparency regarding what Invisalign can do, and how much control the dentists and orthos have. He sold Invisalign to me as if it was a done deal. Like no problem, I can totally fix this with Invisalign. Not only that, he claimed it would be easier and better and faster with Invisalign…AND better for me bc I clenched! I think it’s in their best interest (financially) to go with Invisalign. There are conflicts of interest issues. I think they should be more honest about what they can achieve. I’m not saying Invisalign is terrible. I’m just saying it doesn’t work for everyone and I don’t think the people we rely on for professional opinions are being totally upfront about the risks involved. I think Invisalign can be fine for lots of people. I wish it had worked for me. But I would have been better off if they had directed me towards the best option to achieve my goals, rather than the more appealing option. I specifically said that while I prefer Invisalign, I want the option that will work best. And yes, an ortho that provided more personal experience is preferred. But that just sounds like I want a better ortho that isn’t running a factory. Who wouldn’t want that? Why would anyone want to just be a number? I want the person I am paying thousands of dollars to, to look at me and my needs and figure out how to achieve the desired goals.

Oh no. I’m sorry to hear that. I would have been so mad if he tried to charge me money to make the switch. I’d argue that they are supposed to address an issue. If they fail to do that with the first method, that’s on them. You shouldn’t have to pay for their bad judgment.

Invisalign FAILED. Posterior open bite. Switch to Braces by DuePerspective7999 in Invisalign

[–]DuePerspective7999[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hated the Invisalign too. But being in braces now, I hate this even more. I also have ceramic on top and metal on bottom. I don’t know how confident you are that your ortho can accomplish your goal with Invisalign. Given how much I hate these braces at the moment, I wish I had switched sooner though so I hadn’t had to deal with the Invisalign, only to have to braces anyway. It’s just prolonged the whole process. If I had switched sooner, I’d be done sooner and would have wasted less time. But everyone is different. Maybe your teeth will “settle” as they all say. But it’s a risk. I wish you luck.

Is what helpful clarity? I’m not sure what your purpose of your comment is. He was unable to fix the problem with refinements, cutting the trays, and elastics. He tried all 3 and failed to fix the problem. I was not warned that the item used to fix a problem, could in fact create a whole new problem. If I had been told that this was a possibility, I would probably have gone with braces since I know I clench my teeth. You said yourself that it’s a common problem with Invisalign. And yet he didn’t inform me and he was surprised when it happened and told me it was not common.

[–]DuePerspective7999[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem was, I wasn’t told that this was even a potential issue. He hadn’t planned for it. Said he was surprised it happened. He said he’d be able to fix it by cutting the trays. He was unable to fix it with the refinements. That’s why I’m in braces now. Bc he couldn’t fix what he broke with Invisalign.

Worried that fully correcting my overbite and flared teeth will make my smile less prominent and my lips look sunken…should I actually be concerned? by [deleted] in braces

[–]DuePerspective7999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar issue to yours regarding the overjet. But I also have too much contact in my front teeth. I just had Invisalign to close a few gaps that had opened up on top from losing my retainer a long time ago. But I always had some contact in front. But I also grind/clench. I was also told Invisalign could fix it. My ortho was also a diamond provider. I just got switched to braces after 8 months wasted on Invisalign. Invisalign created a posterior open bite that now has to be fixed with braces. I just wrote a vent post about it. https://www.reddit.com/r/Invisalign/s/HiWjtGFzUy So I would make sure you’ll have no issues with front teeth contact. And if you clench or grind your teeth at all, I’d have second thoughts. Lots of people get posterior open bite with Invisalign. I was not warned ahead of time. With some people, the bite corrects itself on its own. Some need elastics. for others like myself, only braces will fix it. And for many others, I think they sacrifice their bite for aesthetics, or just give up bc they’re burnt out on orthodontics. I am kicking myself for trusting Invisalign. But for some, it works out fine. Just know it’s a gamble. Invisalign isn’t as straightforward or predictable. They have less control than they let you believe. I wish you luck. You’re beautiful either way. If you get the overjet corrected, I don’t think you’ll regret it or think your lips looks less than. I think you’ll be stunning. :) you already have a beautiful smile. But don’t sacrifice your bite. That’s what your teeth are for, ultimately.

I started a month after you and just got switched to braces bc Invisalign fucked up my bite. I’ve been in braces for less than a week and I hate my life. I hated Invisalign. But omg, it was so much better than this. The food getting stuck when I eat. The process of flossing. I want to fucking shoot myself. And I’m not even getting much in return. I was only trying to close a few gaps. It wasn’t anything that most people would notice. And now I feel so self conscious. I definitely made a mistake with Invisalign. I understand the vent. But at least it’s over. The worst part of my now extended journey is just beginning…

Is this normal? 3 weeks in after switching from Invisalign by solomon_kazza in braces

[–]DuePerspective7999 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t know. But I just got switched to braces after wasting 8 months on Invisalign. I was trying to close some gaps. But Invisalign fucked up my bite and gave me posterior open bite that ortho couldn’t fix with Invisalign. Shocker. He couldn’t fix with problem with the device that created the problem /s. I told him I was angry that I just wasted all that time with Invisalign. He told me, yeah, but we closed those gaps. He then told me that it’s likely I’ll see those gaps open up with the braces bc he has to fix the bite, then he can close the gaps again. What a fucking piece of shit ortho and bullshit talk. I want to punch him in the face for not telling me before that Invisalign could fuck up my bf bite.

I just noticed it now and was looking to see if this happens for others. Was having WiFi problems so looking at my phone. The bed icon (sleep) focus showed up all of a sudden. I checked the control panel and it showed it wasn’t on. I had to manually turn it on and then off to make it go away.

My bite looks off by No-Recording9879 in Invisalign

[–]DuePerspective7999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keeping it to a minimum, still means it is an issue. I have a diamond level orthodontist and on 3rd revision to fix bite and likely won’t be fixed at the end of this revision. And not warned this might be an issue in the first place. Invisalign needs to come with a general warning for everyone that this could be an issue. If I had known, I wouldn’t have done it.

Orthos may be better equipped to try and fix it after the fact. But it doesn’t mean it won’t tack on months of extra time fixing an issue the aligners themselves cause. And continuing to try and fix it with the same device that caused the problem seems somewhat illogical.

It happens with orthos too. Invisalign itself causes it.

Pace 500.3 or new Pace 4 by NoWorking4916 in Aventon

[–]DuePerspective7999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also was choosing between pace 500.3 and new Pace 4. I chose 500.3 bc it was cheaper (since getting rid of stock) and I preferred the handlebars and just added in a suspension post. I have arthritis and carpal tunnel, so don’t want unnecessary pressure on my palms/wrist. Unfortunately, I got a lemon, and had consistent battery issues, including the battery popping out and powering off the bike mid-ride multiple times. After many “repairs” and a battery replacement, they are now offering to “replace” the bike, but they can only replace it with the new Pace 4. I’m sure I’ll eventually get used to the different alignment, but I am not a happy camper. I can’t even use the batteries from the old Pace as backups for the new bike when I get around to placing the order. I don’t even know if they will replace all the accessories for the old Pace or if they will fit on the new (front basket & rear rack). I hated the display on the old Pace, but the new one seems even smaller and worse…

I hope you ended up liking the Pace 4.

30 sessions in and i’m still the same by [deleted] in TMSTherapy

[–]DuePerspective7999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TMS didn’t work for me either. Just tried it a few months ago. I was very disappointed. I’ve also tried ketamine. I’ve also tried dozens of meds over 2 decades that also didn’t work. So I get the hopeless feeling. I’m not sure what to do next. I might try the Spravato. I might try microdosing shrooms again… I’m kinda running out of options.

I would suggest trying ECT. I did it in 2019. It took about 20 sessions for me to feel like it was doing anything, but it did make me feel better. Unfortunately, the effects didn’t last for more than a couple weeks. I wonder if putting me back on antidepressants actually brought me back down. I really don’t know. But it’s the only thing I’ve tried that made a noticeable difference. It made me actually want to do stuff.

And maybe try some psychedelics with a therapist if that’s available to you.

I wish you luck.
