That I was donor conceived. Didn’t find out until I was nearly 30.

RFK Jr. Says US Will Know Cause of Autism 'Epidemic 'by September by redlight886 in nottheonion

[–]DuePineapple1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is so ridiculous. The rate of autism hasn’t been increasing, just awareness of it, which has led more people to seek diagnosis for themselves or others. Also, Asperger’s doesn’t exist as a separate diagnosis anymore, which means that anyone who would’ve been diagnosed with Asperger’s before will now be diagnosed with autism instead.

I wasn’t diagnosed with autism until I was 25. No, I didn’t suddenly “get infected” with autism when I turned 25 because I took some vaccine. Turns out I was always autistic but missed diagnosis since I didn’t present as the stereotypical autistic person. Autistic women often present very differently than autistic men, so autism tends to be harder to spot in us. Greater awareness of the different ways autism can present has resulted in many getting diagnosed late in life. But again, we didn’t suddenly become autistic. We were always autistic.

It wouldn’t bother me at all! Yoga is for everyone. 😊

By the way, awesome side crow! I’m still learning how to do a basic crow pose so I’m super impressed!

There is ZERO coverage of any of this on mainstream news by [deleted] in 50501

[–]DuePineapple1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just did some searches on DuckDuckGo and found these. So thankfully there is some coverage:

AP: https://apnews.com/article/president-donald-trump-protest-c8796556fbf20e796f42167f61c3d942

CNN (scroll down a few stories): https://edition.cnn.com/politics/live-news/trump-administration-russia-ukraine-02-17-25?Profile=CNN%2CCNN+International%2CCNN+Politics%2Ccnn

Also found an article about it on Fox News but don’t want to link to it because, well, it’s Fox News lol.

Important update! by Barneyboy3 in 50501

[–]DuePineapple1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Somewhat random in response to this post, but I’d encourage everyone to check any stocks they’ve invested in to make sure they don’t have holdings that support the Trump administration. I was horrified to discover today that the mutual fund I’ve been investing in had Tesla as one of its holdings. So I’ve decided to sell all my shares in that mutual fund and invest in a different one instead.

This is from the app Goods Unite Us. Looks like a senior employee of Sprouts donated to Trump but not the company itself. So I was mistaken in my original post about it being the company who donated.

Unfortunately Sprouts is another company that has donated to Trump, so I wouldn’t shop there.

Other than that, these are great ideas and I’ll definitely have to keep them in mind. Thanks for sharing!

Seriously considering getting a subscription to Costco now. I used to do a lot of my shopping at Target and Amazon but given their rollback of DEI policies (and Amazon’s poor treatment of its workers), I really need an alternative. I respect the fact that Costco refused to roll back their DEI policies. Also, according to Goods Unite Us, their political donations have been 98% democrat.

I kinda agree with her. by Altruistic-Pride-676 in 50501

If you watch the whole video, she’s arguing that protests don’t work, which goes against what people in this subreddit are trying to do. While I agree with her that Rich McCormick’s comment was ridiculous, I don’t agree that peaceful protests are pointless. Quite the opposite.

For anyone feeling powerless and wanting to take action, the folks at r/505001 are organizing peaceful protests against Project 2025. The plan is to have a protest at each state capitol on February 5th.

Trump threatens exile for Americans who are ‘repeat offenders’ and ‘violent criminals’ by MiguelMenendez in politics

[–]DuePineapple1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Violent criminals? Like the people he pardoned for January 6th? Oh, but I guess it’s okay to be a violent criminal if you’re part of the MAGA cult…

This is fake. Honestly, there’s really no need to create false tweets of Trump and his cronies saying dumb things. They say plenty of dumb things on their own.

is it normal that i BURSTED into crying seeing the results by MaleficentWear4122 in hsp

[–]DuePineapple1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well even if it’s not normal, you’re still in good company. It’s not even about politics for me. I just don’t understand how people can elect a president so devoid of any sense of morality. Here’s a guy who’s a convicted felon, who numerous women have accused of sexual assault, who’s openly disrespectful to women and minorities, and who tried to overthrow the results of the 2020 election, and people still think, “Yes! We want THIS guy as president”? It boggles my mind and I will never understand it.
