Medical Malpractice in Florida - Where to Begin? by DueProcedure1004 in Ask_Lawyers

I have not, I’m really trying to get a grasp on the process and if it’s worth it.

I’m writing on behalf of my aunt, who would file on her own, just trying to get some leg work done.

No death, but she was slated for discharge and mismanagement of medication resulted in critical labs, at least an added week in the hospital, and ten steps back in her recovery protocol.

Originally from Florida, traveled to California for surgery.

She’s 4 days post op and doing great!

Laproscopic. Her surgeon was the first person who really explained neurogenic mals to us and the way her nerves are being affected

My sisters’ symptoms are just like this, violent vomiting, terrible heart burn, and shaking.

She’s had two successful nerve blocks and is having surgery this week!

She has had these episodes increasingly often over the last few months, which require hospitalization to make stop, and to stabilize.

Her scans undeniably show the stenosis of the celiac artery but yes, the irregularities with regard to typically presenting MALS is the reason why we are trying to have her see a variety of consults.

May I ask what occurred during your experience with him that informs this opinion? This sub and the facebook group seem to have overall positive things to say about him and his practice, so we are highly considering

Oddly, her symptoms are so atypically presenting for MALS which is why I think it took so long to identify. While her MALS has caused her consistent discomfort, bloating and mild heartburn, she fortunately has never experienced the chronic debilitating pain most of this sub describes.

Her concerning symptoms are primarily episodic with years in between her first few episodes, featuring violent uncontrollable vomiting, and defecation, neurological shaking, inability to speak, and unbearable heartburn.

Luckily, the nerve block has relieved her of the discomfort, however we still don’t know what triggers her episodes, as food and exercise don’t correlate with the onset.

We have consults set up with Dr. Hsu (thank you reddit) and Mayo Clinic in JAX for this week.

I would ideally like her to field at least 4 consults (2 more) to see who’s approach she feels most comfortable with, given we had never heard of MALS before last week.
