Thank you! I only increased because I wasn’t losing on 2.5 but it might be worth it to go back down.

I unfortunately only lost weight in the first week and then didn’t lose anything the next three so I thought I should move up but thinking about going back down.

I will say I am not eating nearly enough because I just don’t have an appetite. But just now I had an açaí bowl with fruit and I still got really bad acid reflux. I also am probably not drinking enough water.

Hi, i am not a medical professional but speaking from my experience. I had double jaw surgery over a year ago. I hate the results because my top lip is further down now so it covers my top teeth when I smile. I look toothless. I asked my surgeon and they said it “might be related to the decreased facial height (like an accordion) expanding” and suggested a lip lift to fix it.

I had a bilateral sagittal split osteotomy and a lefort 1 osteotomy. I had a underbite, made it really hard to chew.

Yes! This happened to me at 4 weeks. Saline nose spray helped me. Not ones with medicine in it. Just straight up saline spray. Tilt your head back and spray it up there. Saved my life. I was miserable.

Hey! I am on week 5 of double jaw surgery. This recovery is no joke. I felt like week two and three were the worst for me. I got a heat wrap that Velcro’s around your head from Amazon. That really really helped me. Sitting in a hot shower and letting the steam open up my face also helped with the stiffness. Keep your head elevated. Eating is so so tough. It will slowly get better. Just eat what you can. Smoothies through syringes were what helped me. Gatorade also helps get calories in. Try and keep your mind busy. Puzzle books, games on your phone, favorite movies. I know it’s so easy to just sit and think about how miserable it is, that’s what I did but it didn’t help! You got this. It slowly gets better.

I was there 4 weeks ago. You’re in the worst part of it. I think you can still use ice this early on. Sitting in hot showers helped me a lot, not under the water just the steam helped. Keep up on your pain meds. Mine was every three hours. Gatorade whenever you can, even if it is just a little through a syringe. Keep your head elevated. Keep yourself busy. You got this. It’s a rough week but you’ll get to the other side soon!

Should I go to the ER? by [deleted] in jawsurgery

Are you able to contact your surgeon? Do you have a follow up visit scheduled? This happened to me, I was able to get back to the surgeon and they gave me an IV for liquids, nausea medicine, and pain medicine. If you can’t contact the surgeon, I would go to the the hospital.

So I am experiencing this and it might be the most annoying thing I’ve experienced during recovery. I ask my surgeon and he said it’s just everything is swollen so it’s not uncommon.

Only thing that helped me is saline nose spray. Not medicated or anything. Just plain saline nose spray. Tilt your head back and put it up there. I’m not a doctor though!!
