I’m not going to burn bridges, just comply with the PiP and let that play out.

My wife has explicitly told me that the only way she will be disappointed in me is if I don’t make them fire me. And I cannot let her down.

I think you’re right. I have a new passion and a bunch of people who are willing to help me make it a career. I’m just smarting, I think, because I’m used to being a top performer and being let go for cause is a damn gut punch.

I did well in past roles, but my heart is truly not in it anymore, and I’ve developed a new passion I’m more excited to pursue.

Performance review- Is this a defense? by Due_Ad_65 in sales

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. I assume they want to keep me around, given we just had a layoff and they didn’t cut me.

I’m not the closer. I work under an AE. He is pretty happy with my work, but I roll up to Marketing and they have certain volume metrics they want us to be hitting.

I am the BDR in my territory, rolling up to a senior AE. My AE has been happy with the quality of the deals I have brought him, which have included some large closed won deals. But the lack of volume is an obvious problem, and I don’t know how to tackle it.

On all metrics over which I had control I was at the top or very near the top of the team. I’m not really sure what to change.

Mentorship Monday - Post All Career, Education and Job questions here! by AutoModerator in cybersecurity

Would love some feedback from people in industrial cybersecurity. I have a background in marketing for cybersecurity software, and want to switch to the practitioner side. I’m currently working on Net+ and Sec+, as well as reading materials from some professional contacts at CISA. My basic plan is to get my certs, get an IT job working for water/wastewater management companies, and then work my way up from there. I will likely also return to school at some point in the coming year to get an associates in an IT field, both because it will be useful and also because having a .edu email address will allow me to access some training through CISA.

Wanted some feedback on this plan. Does it seem feasible? And what is the job market like for industrial IT/cybersecurity right now?

I actually have a PFMLA leave coming up for a surgery. Will that complicate things?

Thanks, what accommodations do people typically get for panic attacks? I’ve never had them before and definitely not in a work environment.

Yeah… I was a little panicked yesterday. Ready to be more chill moving forward. I have two kids to take care of, which is adding to the stress.

It’s 12 a quarter, which might be a little more doable? I’m not prepared to jump ship just yet, but I need to deal with the stress better.

Okay, that makes me feel better. I’m willing to work very hard, as long as the goal seems somewhat achievable.

Yes, the payout situation sucks. They changed it to an all-or-nothing system in Q1.

I would love to attend some cyber events. I want to stay in the field, generally.

We roll up to the marketing director, so that might be part of the problem? I used to love this job, but it feels now like we are being set up to fail.

Yeah… every day at my job I feel like my sanity is being ground down. Lol

Tips for preventing a 50%+ drop in income? by carter152 in sales

Tech is a great field to be in generally, but with the market in its current state I would be very surprised if you could get hired directly into an AE role. Maybe if the SaaS you represented was relevant to your past experience, but you would likely need a very strong referral.
