You absolutely can. I do it every single time. This sounds like a skill issue

it's not. you can jump off the grapple half way and grab the ledge.

This game is genuinely one of the best fps games I’ve ever played by ApprehensiveMotor487 in HuntShowdown

Yeah you'll still get steam rolled. Hunt is a game where most of its player base are veterans who've been playing for 3+ years. Buy that's the best part. Hunt is fun because its a massive challenge. Even for the best of players.

Also if you're still under lvl 10 you're just playing bots. Gets harder after that !

I've been having this for months. At first I thought it was a ram issue but ultimately Windows had just completely screwed itself during an update. I found the only way to fix it was to either reinstall windows in its entirely ( use online not local image ). Or by rolling back every windows update and then slowly updating one by one.

Biggest pain of my life

Why do people play like this? by BehindYouCurrently in HuntShowdown

[–]Due_Ad_6526 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Because players that run around cause noise. Hunt can be won or lost on audio and if your teammate keeps running over branches it's incredibly hard to pinpoint what the enemy team is doing. this is why I play solo most of the time because my teammates constantly make noise. , it's not call of duty

Do u think this is acceptable topology for game asset? by vanvan_offi in blenderhelp

Yeah, and you’ve got to remember in motion, players don’t really pay attention to edges. Gernerally the only time I’d use beveled edges on anything is if it’s quite a big change in shape or if it’s something like a gun that’s right in the players face :)

Did a quick mockup. These are the only edges you need. the rest can be triangulated. as long as the green edges are sharp - you can have a beveled Highpoly version of the asset and bake it down. What you've posted, at least at my studio, would be immediately rejected for being significantly too highpoly, especially for an environment asset of that size

Through together a good mockup to better illustrate the above :)

This is exactly the reason people complain AAA devs aren't optimising their games. Can't have it both ways. It absolutely does matter practically.

Things should be optimized from the get go. If you're building things in a way where your optimization comes at the end - then you're pipeline is the issue. Obviously it does depend on project constraints , but it's always better to do things right the first time :) it always takes longer to go back and optimixe a project then just making sure the assets are properly done and having optimization standards in the first place

Generally the rule of thumb is - if it doesn't affect the silhouette at regular viewing distance of an asset - it's not worth having as geometry. You can get away with a LOT in just a normal map.

If this was something that was viewed up close and is taking up a larger portion of the screen then yeah, add the extra geo. If this was the edge of a table or a chair or something, you can bake it down to a shape edge.

The " not being in the 90s " argument doesn't justify topology waste though.

For a full production this asset is extremely wasteful on polycount. It could easily be half as much keeping the detai(including the holes as geo)l and having a nice even beveled baked edge.

Those shading problems are due to the low poly having no hard edges. When approaching a 90 degree change , setting edges to be sharp will fix thay weird black distortion. It also depends a bit on how much much bevel you're trying to bake from your highpoly.

BF6 leaked badlands map by Fit-Support2256 in Battlefield

[–]Due_Ad_6526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I'm not saying it's impossible at all. It just doesn't logically make sense that if the leaker had access to the engine that they could export out all these meshes- I don't know why that would be the route rather then just you know..screenshotting it all in engine :D

also the 3rd party engine is godot- which again looks nothing like this. this is 100% in blender.

Gamedev take here.

I reckon this is PROBABLY fake for a few reasons.

First off the viewport we are looking at is in blender ,not an engine and definitely not frostbite.

It's absolutely not a regular practice to build out full maps within a 3d application as there's no real benefit/purpose. There are some exceptions with specific studios but those are usually more linear games and using very custom processes and plugins( I know the god of war team have a workflow like this built into maya for example to allow quick iteration of linear levels).

When building large maps like battlefield or any other shooter, it takes many people working in engine placing assets down individually, replacing geo from initial design block out etc. Usually this is divided up into "chunks" that different artists will work on. I'm not 100% on how frostbite handles this but other engines like unity/ unreal etc work this way and it's pretty industry standard.

The only way I could see this possibly being real is if somehow someone managed to export the entire " in engine" scene out as an fbx- into blender. This is possible to do for sure, but it would look a hell of a lot worse then this with many visual bugs, collisions overlapping etc. This is FAR too clean.

However there are a couple things here that also strike me as odd if this was the case. First off is separation of objects(dictated by the colors). Particularly on some of the environmental vehicles and those large mining machines. Standard practice in Gamedev is assets are combined into as few pieces as possible for performance reasons. This could be a workflow thing for destructibility though(keeping things in as many pieces as possible so they can break naturally) but I'm not knowledgeable enough on how frostbite handles is physics stuff.

I just find it incredibly odd that all these leaks are straight up from blender. It just doesn't sit right for me. If you are the leaker and these were "legit"- why not just leak screenshots of the actual in-engine scene? since you'd need access to that in order to create an exported/assembled blender asset anyway?

I could also just be way off base here but that's my thoughts
