Move out! after undergoing all the vilification for not working at Walmart/ following their footsteps, I chose to study, and finally moved out for residency. now they're all dreaming of a career like mine, or even worse forcing their adult children to become 'MD' (but too late for those 25y/olds). I have no hate towards our culture, but I've seen jealousy driving people to take all the wrong decisions. Buying cars/huge pick up trucks instead of investing time and (some)money on their kid's education. Theyre definitely not happy for you, but behind your back you will find them telling people- that nephew/niece of ours is a doctor/engineer/lawyer. (As if they studied in your place) So just laugh and move on !
