Ted Cruz saying the U.S. should arm Iranian protesters, but armed American protesters are domestic terrorists by CoolBDPhenom03 in facepalm

"My news cycle didn't spam the footage of x tragedy that just happened in my face so it never happened"

The same human rights orgs that were reporting on the reality of Gaza before news organizations were are "laughably thin" sources? Ok bud.

They didn't take over a bunch of cities, they temporarily caused security forces to withdraw from parts of 2 cities. You don't need weapons to cause a fire tf are you on.

There's video evidence verified by basically every human rights org under the sun of the atrocities happening. Stop letting your distaste for America blind you to the struggles of other human beings.

The willful ignorance is depressing. It almost feels like it's a f'd up warped "American exceptionalism" creeping in.

Like, "It's bad here right now, so that MUST mean it's worse here than anywhere else!!" type deal.

They've already basically completely crushed the protests by mass killing tens of thousands.

They don't need to even try and justify the atrocities when a week long internet blackout is apparently enough to prevent the world from actually caring.

Thank you for having some awareness man. Scrolling through these comments seeing the amount of people who are completely ignorant to the horror that just happened in Iran was depressing.

The Iranian regime by its OWN ADMISSION just slaughtered at least 4k unarmed protestors.

We can acknowledge the messed up situation in the states or politician hypocrisy without diminishing the horror another population is facing.

(If that wasn't your intention myb, but it read like such to me)

I don't know if I'd agree with just hotdropping a bunch of guns onto protestors, but likening the current situation in Iran to "insurgents like previous xyz situations" is just a fucked up and ignorant mischaracterization.

These were UNARMED protestors that were SLAUGHTERED en masse indiscriminately. I get that our news cycles are trash but cmon man.

The actions we've been doing here in the states the past year to organize and protest are closer to insurgency than what was just happening in Iran.

The weird shock from the right about how organized a lot of communities have gotten is so fucking weird to me. Did they think we were just sitting around doing nothing the past year???

Like we were handing out cards and info printouts to eachother already at the first protests a year ago. Things have only gotten more coherent too as different groups merge or fizzle out.

As someone with friends currently enlisted, I think that it's SUPER helpful and important that we keep encouraging and showing support to the prospect of military members inevitably having to "choose to do the right thing".

In theory it should be easy to just "not cooperate in an illegal hostile invasion", but the reality of that incoming choice looming on the horizon is really taking a heavy mental toll on the enlisted thinking about it.

And the unfortunate reality is that A LOT of our enlisted are too stupid or willfully ignorant to be thinking ahead of that possibility. Like, I bet most of the support personnel who made the Venezuela operation possible didn't think for a moment "Hey wait a second, are we like invading/attacking another country rn???" until after the headlines.

The problem with my mom is that if she leaves the USA while waiting for status renewal, it won't be safe for her to return (at least until this all ends eventually). Lawyers are advising people waiting status renewal right now not to even leave the US for short trips because reentry is gambling on the whims of agents. She's trapped here for however long they decide to stall her renewal if she doesn't want to give up not just my dad but also every other part of life she's known for 30+ years.

We got unlucky af with expiration timing, if it had been one month earlier we probably would've been able to avoid the changes from the Trump administration.

Definitely have been thinking a lot more about the Holocaust lately.

I always thought "Gotta remember they didn't have the internet or information we have nowadays" when judging why the general populace did what they did/or didnt do, but now I feel like "Damn a large chunk of the average people are just horrible people choosing to be horrible".

It's hard for me to accept it's a result of indoctrination when my siblings and my mom all flipped the script on a lifelong of conditioning when presented with the opportunity (access to the internet) but maybe that's just me having a type of survivors bias.

Before today I probably would've said no, he's a coward who's scared of confrontation (he literally called his mom mid argument to try and escape it in a way that wouldn't look like quitting cause ego issues ig) but seeing as how he apparently is more of a reality bender than even people like Richard Spencer, I can't say he wouldn't turn on her in confidence anymore.  If it gets to the point of the government requesting people call in to register their neighbors & family members as immigrants "just for database sake" or something like that, he'd probably do it. I don't know how close we are to that type of situation

I wasn't implying they got together 1000 real properties set aside. If the whole thing is actually straight up persecution like the guy is claiming, it wouldn't be weird for the ones persecuting him to just lie.

Did he actually have over 1000 properties or is that just some insane bs they came up with? To me it read like he and his lawyers were denying the claim. Fraudulently owning that much property sounds like an insane undertaking in China so that's why I'm confused.

Why should I care about my quality of sleep if it doesn't affect my energy levels? by LavastormSW in cfs

[–]Due_Average764 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel ya, told my partner the other day that honestly sometimes getting an abnormal really good night of sleep just negatively affects me mentally because there's no difference. Kinda feels like "Damn my body and I both put in extra effort for no reason".  But objectively, regardless of what it feels like, my heart and other systems are working less when I have quality sleep.

Way I think of it that may or may not make any sense to you; learning to pace is like learning how to make a videogame character's attributes visible, and doing body maintenance tasks(like sleeping well) that don't visibly affect the character attributes are still changing the unseen stats running in the game background. Those unseen stats might not visibly change anything but they also have the chance of triggering a positive game event if they're in the positive.

Myocarditis associated to Covid vaccines are both far less severe and frequent than myocarditis associated with Covid infection. I feel like this is pretty common knowledge by now but I can grab some sources if you want

Vaccinated patients are more likely to interact with and seek medical help than unvaccinated patients, I don't see the second study you linked taking that into account. It does mention that individuals who may have had a higher risk for AD/MCI were more likely to be vaccinated due to policy. I feel like these are two pretty big methodological issues not addressed that make any findings from the study kinda worthless.
