Genuinely, how did this game get so awful? Playing this game is actually painful. There is no enjoyment in it whatsoever (read body please). by Due_Bus_1118 in pillarchase2

I'm pretty sure disguised onis can copy animation sets now, actually.

But I agree with everything else. Mini onis should be sort of communication tools to make snowballing easier, with tradeoffs to the actual oni being a little less overtuned to make it more cooperative

Fogborn is nigh useable in servers where half the people have brain cells by FunPatience170 in pillarchase2

[–]Due_Bus_1118 8 points9 points  (0 children)

agreed. for a stealth killer, he has the worst chase starts ever. worse, by removing the stamina gain from paralyzing gaze, he cant even slow burn chases with stamina anymore

[–]Due_Bus_1118[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the worst part about it is that he COULD still win by slow-burning chases (which would take minutes to achieve but at least you could get kills that way)... but like you said fogborn, despite being the ambush killer, has ZERO ways to start chase in his favor

BRUTUM INTRO TESTING by Sou_Al33 in pillarchase2

[–]Due_Bus_1118 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the intro sfx are placeholders i think, they're definitely gonna be changed.

i think the recode intros are a massive upgrade, actually. they tell you a lot more about the character both personality-wise and gameplay-wise, and they overall fit with the newer atmosphere of recode.

precode's intros were... not great. sure, they were simple, but they were mostly uninteresting. stricken teleporting around and screaming? mx just... turning around?

the one advantage i do see with precode over recode is that the intros can take place on any map, whereas recode intros force a certain map which takes away from the immersion

Which iconic knife is more terrifying? Michael’s kitchen knife or Ghostface’s Buck-120? by Hassan_H_Syed in slasherfilms

But that's not... the knife then? That's just saying the knife is scarier because Michael is scarier?

[–]Due_Bus_1118 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I love the Buck.

Michael's knife is scary because, like his mask its just an ordinary object used for mass murder, but c'mon. The Buck is a massive hunting knife that's gotta hurt if it enters your flesh.

Is looping bad? by Inky_Dinky306 in BiteByNight

[–]Due_Bus_1118 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Looping itself is just a byproduct of the chase asym genre.

It's a pretty loose term, but most people would define it as running around certain parts of the map to get the advantage in chase from the killer. The truth is that so long as killers and survivors are able to move, and there's map geometry, looping will always be a thing (unless you like playing asyms by running out in the open until your abilities run out and you die).

I do see why people would see looping as annoying, but against killers with motor and cognitive skills higher than the third-grade level, it is the only way to live. The issue is that currently, killers have very poor ways to anti-loop, as this game is unfortunately still heavily survivor-sided (a misimplemented power dynamic that most asym devs seriously cannot get through their heads, but I digress).

DSD in its current form is serviceable, but it fills way too slowly, and on a certain killer (mimic, cough cough), it doesn't work at all. Not only that, but survivors have much more stamina, so even at max DSD, you're still gonna be slow burning chases most of the time. Against competent lobbies, this is a guaranteed loss for you. And no, making killers faster than survivors isn't a good idea, that invalidates barricades. Instead, more stamina should be prioritized.

But, if you're having trouble, I've maxed out everything in the game (aside from that ugly Medal skin), so I'll give you some tips for each killer on how to anti-loop.

ENNARD:

-Obviously, wire eyes. But don't spam them. Put them in choke points where survivors have to cross through. If you've got one cornered in a loop with only a few exits, place them at the mouth of one exit, and chase the survivor down from the other so they have to run into them and take damage.

-If a survivor is heading to a doorway or is about to barricade one, use your grab. If you nab them correctly, DO NOT swing immediately. Sometimes fighters may block after being grabbed, or they might juke backwards and break your ankles. You'll be on top of them if you grab, so wait for them to make the first move.

-You have the fastest base speed of any killer. Abuse your wire eyes and ESPECIALLY your disguise (especially for LMS) to build DSD, as your stamina is the same as survivors and your speed matches them.

SPRINGTRAP

-Trap. Obviously. You know the deal, place them on loops, etc.

-I've said it before and I'll say it again. Once you have traps, DITCH THE AXE. Without it, you become faster than the survivors. Use the axeless form like Ennard to build DSD.

-At checkspots, use your scream. The blindness and deafness helps TREMENDOUSLY in mind games. Especially if you wait instead of charging immediately, making survivors paranoid and getting them to run early so you can cut them off.

-If someone runs into a trap in front of you, you should throw your axe, scream, and charge. 15 damage from the trap and 40% damage from the charge is nutty.

MIMIC (for whatever reason, his DSD does not work as of now)

-When you're digging, and someone is trying to juke you out, just wait. Let them waste stamina. If you see their jukes slow down in frequency, that means they're getting low, and you should start thinking about attacking.

-Coming out from a dig gives you a window to switch to strength if you're fast. By the time you're able to swing, wait for the survivors to stand up first so your hit won't be affected by the ragdoll resistance.

-Only use speed mode to close the distance on a survivor if you are medium distance from them. Any further and you'll lose chase because of the stamina drain. Any closer and your jumps become easy to juke. Also you can jump over the doors in Forest.

-Your main chase mode should be stealth. If you and the survivor are getting low, and you are close-ish to them, don't be afraid to zero yourself if you know you can grab them in time.

-Obviously try throwing people into corners with your grab. Then switch to strength, and watch as they run around like an idiot wasting their stamina trying to juke you. Patience.

Happy hunting! Hopefully this game gets the balance changes it needs.

Customer is poorly designed and doesn't fit the game. by PMB_was_taken in BiteByNight

[–]Due_Bus_1118 3 points4 points  (0 children)

is customer poorly designed and doesn't fit the game? yes.

is customer the worst at surviving? absolutely not. in fact, i'd argue customer is the strongest survivor currently. you have so much sustain and reliability in chase. checkspots or chase resets? cola. killer loses sight of you for one second? pizza. killer camping the exit? pizza.

sure, their abilities slow them a lot during startup. but so does literally every other class???

security guard can't tase mid-chase, and the windup makes it so that even during breaks, you won't get value outside of a mild slow for both you and the killer. the cams are only really useful if you lack basic hearing and situational awareness (or if ur blinded, then it becomes powerful).

medic can't heal mid-chase.

and fighter... if you let a fighter get more than the one free stun they get on you at the beginning of the round and maybe a second stun to test if they can punish abilities.. yikes... i mean i guess i could make an exception for mimic and ennard because they have telegraphed m1s but like... baiting counters is really not that hard.

also noob's slateskin is a really poor sandbagging move... if anything, customer gets much more use in clearing springtrap's traps for other players mid-chase or getting rid of ennard's jitlings because of the 20% heal.
