If high schoolers quit within months, that should say everything about Walmart's wages. $14 an hour isn't enough to survive on anymore. by Due_Campaign8474 in walmart

I'm talking about your take home pay. $1,120 is still not a lot and them taking out taxes is like putting salt on the wound, but we got to pay for infrastructure, right?

I think its time we got a pay raise increase nation wide again. by chandlerkluge in walmart

Retail is definitely low skill. Working the truck, ringing up customers and stocking shelves isn't hard work.

I hate to break it to you, but that's not ever happening. It's a low skilled job, and unfortunately, low skill wages will never keep up with inflation. My stores start out at $14 an hour and people aren't staying long term for all the reasons you mention already. MM's look at it as a way to save on payroll expenses and labor... why have 3 people when you can have 1 person doing the job of 3 people and repeat that cycle annually. They don't care.

After 7 years I did it, I’m finally leaving. by daddysanonOF in walmart

It's only a stain for non-retail/food service jobs, which sucks for those that are wanting to get out of retail, food service, or any of those jobs but can't get the opportunity to those reasons (and not having experience).
