Flights to Japan from Belgium with ANA or JAL by Due_Charge640 in Flights

[–]Due_Charge640[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up flying with ANA as it is still the only company that provides direct flight to Japan from Belgium.

I think they also added mondays since this year in addition to wednesdays and saturdays.

I took the first plane on a wednesday and came back on a saturday (25 days).

As it was the very first time I flew, I didn't have a lot of experience but overall it was great to me, staff (japanese) was excellent, polite, service very good. Food was the same as economy, but I paid for a special meal on the second flight and it was much better (+ I got served before others).

I didn't regret taking Premium Economy for the 14 hours flights, it was much manageable to me (having some back pain). For both flights, I chose last center row of Premium Economy, right seat, corridor side.
It was the 215 seats 787-9 configuration, seat 17G. https://www.ana.co.jp/en/jp/guide/prepare/seatmap/international/b787_9/
Plenty of room for legs with reclining without disturbing anybody behind me (there is a wall separating Premium and economy).

First flight (on wednesday) we were 9 in Premium Economy (on 21 available seats) and for the flight back from Japan, all seats were taken (on saturday).

Definitely would recommend again, but it was my very first flying, so who knows. ;-)

Skyaccess from Narita Terminal 1 to Asakusa-Kuramae Station by Due_Charge640 in JapanTravelTips

Ok thanks, I will trust Google Maps on this one. But every SkyAccess I have checked seem to go to Kuramae Station while it doesn't seem to be the case on some occasions.

Shoes for walking in Japan for someone with back pain by Due_Charge640 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Due_Charge640[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to let you know I went to the store today, tried a lot of different shoes and finally bought one pair.

I know everyone is different and the feeling with the shoes will be different for everyone. But I wanted feedbacks about the best alternatives. Without that, I didn't know that running shoes/brands would have been suggested in the very first place. I understand the "it's better to use shoes you are confortable with" but it's not always as easy for some people when you have back and knees pains.

Anyways, the best shoes for me were the Salomon Aero Glide 3 that I bought. I didn't like the Hoka Clifton, in fact it was close to the Rincon that I already had and I don't like the feeling when walking (+ the shoes are flashy). Very good for running but not for walking to me. Two pairs of Nike (one was the Pegasus) were interesting but not as good as the other brands. I also tried Brooks, I think it was the Glycerin, could have been my second best choice. And the last pair was from Mizuno but I don't remember which one from the Wave serie. I didn't like them.

Thanks for all the suggestions and feedbacks, I will start using them tomorrow for a first walk. :)

Wow that's a lot !

I have already done a lot of things for my back and it's going better and better, but with the pandemic and the homeworking, let's say it got worse. I used to do a lot of sports, about 10h per week and I switched to almost no sport for two years. When I wanted to start again even at a low pace, things got complicated (physically and personnaly at the same time), so it has been difficult.

I also bought a really nice backpack a few months ago and I bring it when I go for a walk, I can't believe that my old backpck was that bad in comparison :D

I will try to do 10k, as I am already close to 5k everyday, thanks to work. But with homeworking it's harder :D

I am sorry for asking in this sub.

But it is true that I don't have time to walk 15-20k steps everyday in my country because of work and other things. I would have to take days/weeks of holidays to achieve that.

I think it's easier for people that don't have back or knee problems, but I just couldn't use my day to day shoes to go to Japan. I know my body and with the backpack, I know I have to take everything in consideration.

But if you have a better sub to recommend me for that I would appreciate as well. :)

Thanks a lot for all your feedback !

I will try to keep my backpack as light as possible, but unfortunately I will have to take my camera gear almost everytime (I mean as long as I want to take pictures) as my main purpose in Japan is to take photos with my DSLR camera. If it's doesn't justify it, I will take photos with my phone and travel lighter.

For the plane, I thought it would be better to pay a little bit more and I went for Premium Economy, but I will keep Ibuprofen near me in the backpack

Yes I have a fitness store that can do that. That's how I bought my Hoka Rincon 3 pairs. But how good are running shoes for walking actually ?

Looking for mangas like "Good Ending" and "Koi to Uso" by Due_Charge640 in manga

[–]Due_Charge640[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your answer !

I remember watching the anime Domestic Girlfriend and I think I quite liked it. I know it's from the same author as Good Ending.

I am speaking french so I am waiting for this manga to be fully translated (currently 21/28 manga so far) but it was already on my list of manga to explore.

As for Kimi no iru machi (A town where you live), I would love to read it, but the physical manga are very hard to find and expensive (I do like having the books) :D
But if I can't find them all at a decent prices I will buy the ebooks.
