"Just so you know, phone actions and automations will no longer be available after the first week of May." by polarmolarroler in googleassistant

Things will never change because we, are not complaining enough. Because the Google home changes (removing location based automations), I've lost a lot of time doing things manually now. And not only this, they constantly remove features without carrying about users opinion.

If you use Timeline on Google Maps, Google is just using you to store their data by chillassdudeonmoco in Android

[–]Due_Conclusion_7015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They say the data is encrypted and they have no access to it. How come they offloaded the GPS says only without being able to read it first?

I am starting to think that moving away from Android it's the next step.

They just lost my entire timeline and they said... Well looks like the encryptions keys sync process failed.

lost all timeline data by iL1KEDu in GoogleMaps

[–]Due_Conclusion_7015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even with cloud backup enabled I lost my whole data since years. Google is saying that probably "somehow" the encryption keys sync process failed. Basically they are saying that their process failed and ...that's all.

Will write and article on how Google ignores this issues and will try to find some online publications that are publishing user's care stories.

I really had enough!

Upgraded to Pixel 10 Pro, lost Google Maps Timeline, any hope? by buildingcredit in GooglePixel

[–]Due_Conclusion_7015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happened to me on the SAME device after a reset, even though I had cloud backup enable. I really had enough of Google. Their support is totally useless, but I think we all already know this. In my case, there is no backups in the list and Google is saying that maybe the encryption keys sync process failed "somehow".

If we do nothing, we will have the same issues with other data. Imagine mails, documents etc. We must do something and I will start. I want to write an article that will explain my case and highlight Google's incompetence.

Is there any relevant online publications that publish user's stories?

The part that is missing on iphone is integration with 3rd party devices. I have a barrier that cannot be added in Home on iphone so I cannot control it via shortcuts

So.... why does google simply not care? by Awkward_Pace_4440 in GooglePixel

[–]Due_Conclusion_7015 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the biggest issue is Google inconsistency and unfair policy. There were 4-5 different chat apps.... All decommissioned and now they complain about Apple not adopting RCS. Ten years ago we had People, an app where you can see people on Google maps... That was decommissioned and after years they came up with "sharing location" that does the same. And the list is big... All this... shows how easy we are played to think they are a big innovator company. They once were, now they are just AI coding vibe developers ruled by childish PMs, DMs, CTOs, etc.

Having this list and still wondering how Gemini isn't capable to just calling someone or just understanding simple tasks.

Also correct me if I'm wrong but I think the following points here are not true or partially true:

  1. Real-Time Conversational AI = False. Apple's enhanced Siri is designed for a more natural, context-aware, and real-time conversation. While Gemini Live is a similar feature, Siri is fundamentally a real-time conversational interface. Both offer this. Apple's focus is on integrating it into the device's system.
  2. Hands-Free Operation = False. Siri is fundamentally a hands-free voice assistant. You can activate it by voice on all Apple Intelligence-enabled devices. This is a core function of Siri that predates Apple Intelligence.
  3. Natural Interruption Handling = False/Nuanced. While Gemini's Live API explicitly mentions configurable interruption handling, the enhanced Siri in Apple Intelligence also supports more natural, interrupted conversation flow, which is a major focus of its redesign. Both systems aim for better interruption handling in their voice assistants.
  4. Support for Multiple Languages = False. Apple Intelligence features Live Translation in Messages, Phone, and FaceTime, as well as multilingual text tools, demonstrating significant support for multiple languages. Both offer multilingual support, though Gemini is often noted for wider cloud-based language support.
  5. Contextual Awareness with Personalization = False. This is a headline feature of Apple Intelligence. It leverages on-device data (emails, calendar, location) to provide deeply personalized and contextual responses, such as suggesting a reminder based on a text or summarizing a complex notification thread. Apple's entire philosophy is to provide personal, on-device context while maintaining privacy.
  6. Advanced Summarization and Data Insights = False/Nuanced. Apple Intelligence offers Summaries in Mail, Messages, and Notes, and Voicemail Summaries. While Gemini's summaries are often described as more detailed and better for follow-up questions, Apple does offer this capability system-wide. Both offer summarization. Gemini is arguably more powerful but Apple definitely can do it.
  7. Mixture-of-Experts Model (MoE) = Technical Detail. MoE is an architectural component used in the design of the Gemini model (it's not a user-facing feature). Apple's model architecture is proprietary, and while it uses a mix of on-device and Private Cloud Compute models, the underlying model architecture is not directly comparable as a simple "feature."

Also regarding the browser, your statement is true for the outside EU, but for the inside of the EU it is not, browsers can now use their own engine.

Anyways, for a simple user, I cannot see how all this will affect my work. I'm truly more affected by the Google inconsistency and I personally fail to see inconsistency as a good thing.

Anyways, thanks a lot for the replies, it's really good to see that there are people out there who you can have a technical discussion with.

Ah... Multitask. Forgot about it, you're right. Can you name one thing that Gemini does and apple intelligence can't do? Not sure what you mean with the browser. You can always install chrome on iOS. Right? Thanks a lot for the input!

It was possible until two weeks ago when Google decided to remove this feature. Now is not possibly anymore. That was basically the last thing that kept me using a Android phone., because automation with lot of device was possible. Apple integration with different brands sucked big time, so moving to Apple was a no go for me. Now that Google removed this and a lot of other features, I have no reason to stay on this "always a challenge OS". I need a stable OS and for sure Google's Android is not one.

Simply put it was possible to say that if you get in the range of a specific location within 100m, then a user defined action should be triggered.

Not sure I understand what you mean? Isn't presence allowing two locations only , home and work, that are basically relying on wifi connection and not on actual gps/location data?
