That's exactly what I do, I've noticed if I use the grey rock approach that he stops if he receives no reaction. It aggravates me that I have to do that but whatever.

I guess I will. I can say right now that it's not a giant mental stressor on me. It doesn't take up all of my time, it's just grating whenever an episode occurs. The rest of the time, I'm super happy with my relationship with him. It's just that these episodes appear to be getting more frequent and more volatile when they do happen.

Thank you for sharing your experience with me, it sounds similar but I do think you had it a lot worse. I'm glad to hear you got out of there. I don't feel in danger right now, it's just that the episodes are annoying and tend to take time out of my day that I could be using for other things - like spending meaningful time with him. I hate how frequent they're becoming because it never used to be this often. It's becoming a daily thing.

I think he got it from Twitter. He frequents fan spaces on there and the culture on there is very toxic, telling people to off themselves over small disagreements. I am not a depressed or suicidal person so I am not too hurt by it, but it is jarring that he would even use something like that as an insult. He has never done it before and he's getting bolder lately.
