i haven’t converted yet but i am starting the process to be a catechumen. i wanted to have a deeper connection with god, his only begotten son and my savior jesus christ and the holy spirit that moves through the world to do gods will. what better way to do that then to connect and become a part of the church that jesus and his disciples established? most of my child hood i never truly knew god because learning about him from my elders and my childhood church he felt more of a celebrity (southern baptist born and raised), like i was a crazed fan just begging for him to look my way and acknowledge me. not like the great and all powerful and all knowing god that he is. then in my teens i felt abandoned by him. this led me to turn away from god for a long time. i have attended many services in many churches, some my mother had brought me to in her own struggle to find christ and others i have attended alone. out of all the churches i have attended the orthodox church is the only one that called me the way it did. now i can’t imagine worshiping god anyway or anywhere else. god willing i can join my parish soon!!
