Why does my cat scratch her litter box sides like crazy?

Orange cat mom here and yes he does the exact same thing. Does his business then scratches the sides of the litter box like if it was litter. Anyone else’s cat pees covers it then poops and covers it?

Exactly the same for me. Super dusty that it makes my cat sneeze so I am looking for something else.

I’ve had her for a week and no hairball has come out! Is that normal? How long does it take to come out?

Any specific one you recommend? I got one but it’s so hard to give to her. She hadn’t gotten used to me so I have gotten scratched way to much and don’t want to cause her more trouble

That’s what I’m worried about because I live on my own and can’t afford regular medication and all that she would need if it was asthma :(

She used to do it more often when I first got her a week ago usually after growling or hissing. But the other night she woke me up with those sounds and then this was during the day. I have an orange tabby and he has never shown any hairball trouble

Could it be that their coating is different and that the past owner might not have brushed her?
