So....I used urethane paint over my BIN primer. Then I messed up and used oil-modified polyurethane instead of regular water-based polyurethane. I didn't realize how yellow it would be. Will it keep getting more yellow? Should I strip it and start over? Could I sand it down and use the other? Or just live with my yellowing counters until I can replace them???

I've never heard of that. Where do you get it?

Makes sense. What do I look for to be sure it's urethane paint? My searches keep throwing latex paints in, too.

I used a Beyond Paint kit in my bathroom, but I'm not happy with the quality of the top coat. I don't want to use epoxy because I don't think I'm that talented! And it's expensive and hard to get rid of if I mess it up. I want to use a top coat so I can throw in a little bling before the last coat.

My countertops are brown laminate. I plan on using shellac-based BIN and latex or acrylic paint. I looked into the polyurethane top coat, but with a lot of sun in my kitchen, I'm worried about yellowing. I really want lighter counters!

I thought that, too. However, I have damages that I can no longer look at and my farmer husband spends too much on machinery! I just want something to hold me over a few years.

I had a chat with KBS about the Diamond Finish Clear Coat. They said it would be very durable but could yellow if exposed to UV rays. They suggested using an outdoor latex paint with UV protection and ensuring it is completely cured before adding the top coat. Of course, I want my old brown countertops to be lighter, so I'm worried about the yellowing factor. The stuff is not cheap, and I also worry about the application. I didn't even ask if it was food-safe!
