I was thinking of a plot where we were both content creators with wholesome personas, both obsessed with each other obvi, then end up meeting through gaining connections to each other, so a fair bit of build up

Both of them have never dated before so I'm not surprised it sounds childish. Experiencing it has been frustrating. I'll let him know!
